Plasma or LCD?
Plasma or LCD?
I'm not even really sure what the differences are... can someone explain?
I know with LCD the size is limited, but I'm not really looking for something too big anyways... though I want something with a really nice picture... I don't want something that'll "over power" the interior design of our living room.
I hear that with Plasma TVs the life spin is shorter, is that true?
And the most important question: Which has a better picture, as for viewing from different angles?
I already know that some plasmas and LCD TVs are NOT HD ready, but I'm not really concern about that either.

i dont really know the difference myself but all i know is that for the screen size im looking for they dont make a LCD screen that size. Also someone had said that plasma screens have this burn in effect which is why they typically only last three years ...... i was told that LCD does not suffer from this because its a liquid screen . Again this is only what ive been told ...ive narrowed down my choice to the samsung edtv monitor. i forget which model but its priced around 3k. If i was gonna go broke id buy the new sony sony floating screen plasma....the picture elegance of the unit is awesome.
I was told the life span for Plasma TV is only 5 years. So, if you spent $5k for a plasma TV, you basically spent $1000 a year for the TV. Also, it sucks lots of power.
As far as I know, plasma TV has better fresh rate compare to LCD.
LCD is just like the portable computer screen, if you watch the LCD from an angle, you would notice sometime a moving object will overlap because the slow refresh rate.
Hope this helps.
Cheers !!!

Hey guys, look at this site. LCD dimenishes over time. I think DLP is the way to go. There is no worry about burn-in with DLP either when you get the black bars viewing 4:3 on a 16:9 set.
Samsung has wonderful DLP sets. Check it out.

Plasma uses gas which is charged resulting in color changes, whereas LCD = Liquid Crystal Diodes which turn off and on. Plasmas I heard have a life expectency that is less than LCD's & CRT"s (about 10 years). LCD's have an error rate of about 99.98% effectiveness (look at computer LCD's with a dark background setting and you may notice one or two pixels emitting only one color). Don't forget LCD's have another weakness, the use of a floresent backlight. Also take a look at the price differences, you will generally pay more for the plasma. Hope this helps.
