I don't know if his has been posted but if you visit website shown below from your cellular phone you can perform a speed test.
http://mobilespeedtest.com
If you run multiple tests on your phone from IE, be sure to clear your cache.

I ran it on my Sprint Mogul and I'm getting a consistent 399.5 kbps or about 49.94 KB/sec which isn't too bad, faster than ISDN, slower than DSL.
Just need to wait for rev. A to kick in and it'll be about 25-50% faster.

Thanks. I'm going to run this test on my TMO Dash with Edge and then WIFI and report the #s back there.
I wish I would have tested my EVDO Moto Q before I closed my account last week but oh well TMOs saving me over 100 a month on cell service for the exact same plan and with a better phone too so figure lol

Ok..ok...I'm going to retest again but my initial EDGE connection # with T Mobile is clocking in at 1.37Mbps d/l speed =175.00 KB/second which isn't bad at all! This was conducted with Operamini of course which is a pretty quick web browser as is.
WIFI speed = 1.32 MBps = 169.59 KB/sec download speed (wait wait wait...somethings wrong. How can my wifi speed be slower than my EDGE connection when my wifi is hooked up to DSL and is much faster than my EDGE connections? Lemme try again

Second WIFI test = 1.30 Mbps = 166.6 KB/Sec Download speed
EDGE take 2= 1.35Mbps = 172.64 KB/sec download speed
Keep in mind I'm northside Chicago pretty good TMO coverage, all 4 bars on the Signal...I'm sure these #s can change based on where you are on the map but with a cell phone company change over from Verizon and their EVDO network with my Motorola Q to this, I'm pleased to say that at 100 less a month I'm getting almost the same speed internet with a better phone and a similar minute plan lol. You just made my day man! Thanks

Ltrain, that's some damn good speeds. What kind of internet setup are you using at home? And how much did you get that unlocked I phone for? I'm thinking of selling my T mobile Dash and upgrading to that soon

I am not sure if I am getting a right reading but here are my results.
Edge 3.21mbps and 410.4/sec
Wifi 240.00mbps and 30mb/sec
Okay, after the WiFi readings, I am 99% certain that my readings are wrong. Because my edge certainly doesn't surf that fast and I can't even get that wifi speed on fios
I am sure that I've read it right. Lol, this is funny
conducted on OperaMini without the DNS hack (I dont even know what that is)

This is an edit to the above post.
I am getting incredibly inconsistent results that I am fairly certain are wrong. I am on Tmobile Total Internet Package using the Dash with OperaMini. Edge is fluctuating between 2 and 3 bars.
Edge
1st Test: 3.21mbps and 410.4kb/sec
2nd Test: 10.91mbps and 1.36mb/sec
3rd Test: 10.00mbps and 1.25mb/sec
4th Test: 7.50mbps and 960kb/sec
5th Test: 48.00mbps and 6mb/sec
I see a lot of hiccuping in speed.
WiFi
1st Test: 240.00mbps and 30mb/sec
2nd Test: 2.02mbps and 258.15kb/sec
3rd Test: 4.80mbps and 614.4kb/sec
4th Test: 11.43mbps and 1.43mb/sec
5th Test: 6.00mbps and 768kb/sec
My roommates are playing games (dota) but I doubt it could be causing the spikes, especially the Edge spikes which has nothing to do with my WiFi.
I tested my WiFi several times more later and got inconsistent results with even higher readings reaching 300mbps and ranging anywhere in between.

^^^^ you should delete your internet cache on your phone before each test if that's possible . ![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)
On my windows mobile phone that's what I had to do to get more consistent results.

Um are you conntecting to you your home network connection or using your celluler service providers data connection? There is no way you can get a 9mb connection on any of the current cell service data connections.
we are testing our connections using our cell service data connections.

Here are my results.
Service: Verizon Wireless EVDO (don't know Rev, assuming 0
)
Phone: Verizon XV6800 (aka HTC PPC6800 / Mogul)
OS: Window Mobile 6 Professional
Location: Honolulu, HI
Date: 03/14/08 13:00
Internet Explorer:
466.00 kbps
762.60 kbps
493.40 kbps
Opera Mini:
1.87 Mbps
1.03 Mbps
1.78 Mbps
Tests were conducted 3 times per browser, alternating browsers between tests.
Browser was closed between tests, and cache was cleared on IE (did not know how to clear on Opera Mini).
Opera Mini appears to be consistently faster by alot.

I think using opera mini invalidates the test.
Doesn't opera mini use a proxy type of thing that sends you 'compressed results'?
So the 'download speed' you see is actualy the speed between the opera mini proxy and the end server, not the speed between you and the opera mini proxy.
