Page File Usage History

And PF Usage slowly climbs until it's maxed out. pos Dell laptop from work that has been pissing me off for two days.

The hard drive crashed the other day and they swapped it out with a new one from a new machine. This has been happening ever since.

What could be causing the PF Usage to slowly climb like that until it locks the system up and everything crashes?

I ran Malwarebytes' and it didn't reveal anything.

Help.;

How much RAM is in the system? Is eliminating the page file not an option?
edit: I guess disabling the PF wouldn't be useful until you found the problem. N/M

What is your highest memory usage process before it crashes? I would try watching your process memory usage tab in task manager and see if you can find it that way.

I wonder what your page file settings are vs the amount of memory you have.

How much memory does the laptop have?

You can check the page file settings by right clicking my computer > properties > advanced > performance(settings button) > advanced tab > change button.

what are the values there?

For shits and grins you could try setting a static page file size (same initial and max values). I highly doubt it will have any effect on the issue you're encountering but it also probably won't hurt anything either.

Which process is using up all the memory? You should be able to see that in task manager. Also, you can turn on additional columns to show physical vs page memory used.

I don't think they did. I don't know why the dork didn't just give me a new machine altogether. He pulled a hard drive from a new laptop, stuck that in my old one, and that was it. I did have to re-register MS Office. Maybe he activated a new version of Windows.

I'll try anything if I get shits and grins out if it!

It's strange, I see multiple versions of chrome.exe running. each using 20 - 40K of memory. That looks suspect..... I've removed and reinstalled chrome once.

Nope. Only about a quarter used.
