I have a 5 yr-old Pent-2 laptop (Compaq Armada) with Win-NT on it.
Do you think it is upgradable to XP Home ?

thanks

Windows 2000 would be your best bet..

If you get windows xp on it.. More then likely you'll have to turn it to the Classic mode to save your computers resources..

How much memory?

XP is probably too much for it. but win2000 Pro should work.

All so you should disable some of the services which will put an unneeded resource drain on the machine.

thanks for the reply
this laptop was my workhorse few years back so has like 500 MB RAM.

Re W2K Professional vs. XP Home - I have the impression - maybe incorrectly - that W2K Pro is more "serious" and has MORE stringent HW requirements than XP HOME - that maybe XP Home is more forgiving and install will be smoother ?

Pro and Home are about the same. The hardware support will be the same
Pro can join a domain and has better security on file sharing.

fedora core

With Windows, no later than 2000

I have a PIII-850 Toshiba (almost 4 years old), running with Windows 2000 SP4. Stable and not that slow.
