Owners of portable MP3 players ...

What earphones/headphones do you use? I'm thinking about purchasing Shure E2C earphones for my iPod.

Currently just using the ones that came with my mp3 player, but the Shure E2C is a good choice. They have an even higher end model that may be even better if you can afford the cost.

Check out this review of it...

The iPodlounge review is the reason I chose the E2C. Found them for $75. I was also thinking about the Etymotic ER6i.

I have those Shures. I like them.

Cant afford the top of the line Shures where you can get custom ear molds made for them.

Used them a lot when i was shooting stock car races and the band on tour. Works as well as ear plaugs and still let me monitor my audio.

And at the gym I dont have to listen to all the dumb conversations the idiots at the gym or on airplanes have.

I use E2c when I travel or when I fly or anywhere where I need the noise reduction. That's amounts to about twice monthly. Otherwise, I used the oem included which are not the greatest, but ok. The E2c is dangerous because you can't hear anything but the music. Also mine don't have a lot of bass, no?

I use the Sony MDR-EX51 earbud headphones. Soooo much better bass production than the dumpy stock iPod mini headphones.

I had a pair of Shure e2C. They sounded great, but, um, I can't find them anymore. I can't believe I lost track of a pair of $70 (I think I got them from provantage.com) earbuds.

So I bought a pair of Sennheiser Earbuds (MX400, I think - I was in Copenhagen and that's what I found at the airport Merlins). Been using them for a while, they sound good but don't block enough sound on some of the louder airplanes.

Got a pair of Sony Fontopia MDR-EX71SL this week - in-ear buds that should be better for the plane, and are about half what the Shures cost. They are more comfortable than the Shures, but I don't know how they will be on a plane just yet.

I'll bet those Sennheisers are nice. I've got the PCX-100 for non-airplane use (much more comfortable than the earbuds of any kind, and better bass response) and they sound great.

I got these from Amazon for $29 a while back. They are light weight and you can hear the difference.

OK, I ended up buying the Shure E2c earphones from Buy.com for $60. I couldn't justify spending twice the money on the E3c or the Etymotic ER6i.

I hate the bud kind (the ones that go in your ear).

They make my ears hurt.

I use these at work.

I like these:

I think they do a pretty good job, lots of bass, ...they also have'em in white, targeting the iPod consumers.

...I could never get head phones, unless it's for the house... Occasionally, I see people at the gym working out with headphones, and it looks kinda stupid AND usually they get so sweaty...
