Outlook PST question

I have the PST file of a previous employee of my group on my C: drive.

How can I have that PST loaded into Outlook permanetly, without having to File ---> Open ----> Open Data File... each and every time I restart Outlook?

Thanks.

import it to your current file. Use the import feature.

However, once you open it, it should stay listed in your Folder list in the left pane of Outlook...that's strange that it isn't.

right, once you add it to your email profile, it should open every time. you can have multiple pst files so that should not be an issue.

By importing it, does it still stay on my C drive and not take up my disk quota on the server???

if your current PST file is on C drive, then yes.

Mine is stored on an exchange server; remotely...

I just want to keep this seperate from my inbox and folders, and just always have it accesible...

ok, goto File Management in File Menu, and add that PST file.

You will have it permanently after that.

Maybe it is an option in Outlook 2003 only, so your approach is valid for older versions

File, Open, outlook data file and it should stick and should not be part of your quota.

you add a remote pst the same way you do a local one. just browse to it on the network. just make sure your pc has a drive letter mapping to the location.

Interesting...

If I go to File ---> Open ----> Open Data File... the PST file doesn't stick upon relaunch of the application.

However, if I use File ----> Data File Management... it does work.

Anyhoo... Thanks all!
