Outlook 2003


I have several .OFT files I use as email templates for emails that get sent internally to a recipient list, however they are cumbersome to use, as they include sections like:

Client:
Client Representative
Title
Firm Name
Street 1
Street 2
City, State Zip
Phone
Fax
Email

Where I have to highlight the text in the line and replace it with the actual information.

I would like to be able to use the "Text Form Field" button [ab|]on the Forms toolbar to make these fill-able blocks by simply clicking on them, but in order to edit an OFT file, you must first disable MS Word as your editor, so I have no access to the forms toolbar. Anyone know how to do this?

 

You can't right click the OFT file and open it with another program?

 

I need to be able to use MSWord Form elements, so no.

 

I can't really provide any insight to the specific problem at hand since my knowledge of forms is minuscule. I did, however, want to mention that you may want to initiate moving off of Word-derived forms as a long term project. The official Microsoft dogma for the last couple of years seems to be pushing everyone toward InfoPath forms and I can't imagine this going away any time soon.

FYI this is just a simple "fill in the blanks" form that is inside an email message.

 

Here's an example of the sorts of things that can be done with InfoPath and Outlook. Again, I have no actual experience with implementing this stuff so I really don't know what level of expertise is required to do so.

Well, I created a form in Outlook form creater, took me three hours. I saved it as an OFT instead of publishing it, and now it's useless, unusable and unopenable. FML.

I need to make it all over again.
