OS X + Logitech Revolution mouse problem
OS X + Logitech Revolution mouse problem
When I first turn my computer on, or when it comes out of sleep, I can't click with my mouse for the first 3-5 minutes. I can move the cursor around, but clicking just seems to be disabled. Anyone know what could cause this? I've tried googling with no luck.
How long have you had the mouse? Batteries old?
What type of monitor do you have?
This might sound a little crazy but it happened to me.
I bought a microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse combo and at the time I had a 19" viewsonic CRT monitor. Believe it or not, I had a very similar issue and it turned out the monitor frequency interfered with the wireless mouse. I used a mouse with a cord in the interim until i bought an LCD. Once I got a LCD monitor, the problem went away instantly

^ weird, didn't know a monitor could interfere with a mouse.
I've had the mouse for a while (close to a year). I've had this issue since I first got it. New batteries doesn't fix it. I've run a few different monitors, or no monitor, doesn't change anything.
Its a bluetooth mouse... but apparently it can't sync with the built in bluetooth in my computer, so I have to use the USB bluetooth thing. Could one bluetooth channel be interfering with the other? Could the lag be that OSX takes a few minutes before it recognizes and 'uses' the USB bluetooth thing?
Are there any non Apple mice that can just work with the bluetooth built into the computer? (Macbook)

I've read of some issues with Logitech mice and Macs, and it was usually fixed by DLing the latest device drivers from the Logitech website. Maybe give that a try.

Either that or maybe try to reconfigure the bluetooth and see if that helps.

you are not alone. looks like the issue has been around since 2006! Some people have demanded refunds.

After reading the thread Gibson posted, it's clear this issue has not been resolved by Logitech, and that it happens with other models of mice, too. I was going to buy an MX620 wireless mouse, but not now. I'll just stick with my old MS optical corded mouse, which works fine with my iMac.
A couple of posters did say using Steermouse software (instead of the Logitech Control Center) solves the VX Revolution's problems, but it costs $20.

Now that a lot of ex-PC buyers are buying MAC's, maybe their market share will increase to more than 5% and we'll start seeing the real issues. Hey, if it hits 10%, maybe the hackers will start paying attention.
Of course, OSX already had like 20 hotfixes last month so it looks like people are already finding vulnerabilities.
I am currently using the corded mighty mouse that came with my imac and I actually like it a lot. I've tried the BT version and it didn't work as well. BT in general actually blows.
Gee Ashburner, bitter much?

Wth? I'm talking about mice here, not OS X versus Windoze, and the issue with the Logitech mice isn't the damn platform it's Logitech's software. Read the thread Gibson posted; PC users are having issues too.

Anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for a new mouse?

This software:

is supposed to fix the issues with your mouse, but you have to pay for it. It might be cheaper than a new mouse though.
I'll give that software a shot, thanks
Siddid- i agree... Wired mighty mouse works very well. The apple bluetooth mouse i was not a fan of. Actually returned mine and bought this logitech.

Yeah, so did I... I think I've updated the software a couple times since I got it... thought I was on the most current version. The thing works great now, this update fixed a few other minor issues too.
I literally punched this thing earlier today, I hated it so much... but now that its working... I'd have to say I recommend it. The scroll wheel is excellent, works great on any surface, good ergonomics, good selection of buttons.
