Options for water damaged Macbook Pro

My kid dumped some water on the keyboard of my 2016 MBP and now the trackpad is screwed up and some of the back light on the keyboard doesn't work. Other than that it still works. What do you think the best course of action is? It looks like apple store would fix it but it would cost over $700. Beaglebrain.com is offering me $480 for it. I'm learning towards selling it. Do you think I can get more than $480 for it? it's a 8gb/256gb 13" non touchbar model. What would you do?

Ended up going with a 2015 15". I never seemed to care much for this generation MBP, won't miss it.

If you paid with a credit card, see if they offer some kind of purchase protection. I know AmEx does and they cover water damage.

AppleCare doesn't cover water damage unfortunately.

Liquid damage to Mac computers and accessories not covered by warranty

Damage to Mac computers and accessories due to liquid exposure is not covered by the Apple One (1) Year Limited Warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).

Current Mac notebook computers and Apple wired and wireless keyboards (except Magic Keyboard) have Liquid Contact Indicators (LCI) to help determine if these products have been exposed to liquid.

Yeah I have a 2015 15" that I use at work and like it much better than the 13" 2016 so I bought one of those. Hopefully BeagleBrain comes through with the $480 for my broken one. Pisses me off that the keyboard/trackpad is such an expensive repair on these things.

wow, didn't know that. I bought with a citibank card, I'll check but I don't think they offer that.

edit: they do have some coverage but I'm past the 120 days
Go ahead and shop! If an item you paid for with your Citi card and/or ThankYou® Points is damaged or stolen within 120 days (90 days for New York residents) of purchase or delivery (whichever is first), we may repair it or reimburse you up to the amount paid with your Citi card and/or ThankYou® Points, up to $1,000 per item, up to $50,000 per year, per Citi card account.

I know my Citibank extends warranties (think doubles the manufactures) but I can't guarantee they cover water damage.

About a month after I got my 16 pro I spilled some pickle juice on it while opening the jar. It was a decent amount. I cleaned it, let it dry, etc. It worked fine after that except once in a while a key would stick, even though it looked clean. I brought it to Apple and didn't say anything about the pickles. Took them a while, but they fixed it, they replaced pretty much the whole thing except for display. I know it was my fault, but any other laptop lets you take the thing apart to clean it. Apple's keyboard is not easily cleanable.

Just closing the loop on this. Beaglebrain.com gave me the money they promised. Maybe I could have gotten a few bucks more selling it privately () but they made it easy so was worth it.

I'm extremely happy with the 2015 15" MBP I picked up from eBay for $1400. Looked band new and still has Applecare until Feb.
