Need a new printer . . .

for home. Replacing a old HP LaserJet 5L. Highest volume required is printing TurboTax forms at tax time. Very low use during the rest of the year. Has to be laser, all in one would be nice but small footprint is also important. What should I look at?

try to get a printer with the most generic and widespread toner available.
some newer samsungs and hp's (the ultra budget ones) have hard to find toners according to reviewers.
Samsung makes some ultra compact, quiet, style oriented laser printers.

Make sure the drivers are generic - try to avoid "host based" drivers if possible.

This caused me so much pain on my network as my hp lj1000 would only work on xp.
They are an extreme pain when upgrading os's as your completley relying on the manufact.
