Need a DVD case storage solution, please

In the middle of transitioning from discs to digital, partly due to kids, but partly because I'd like the shelf room back. Only thing that will be left in the cabinet is HD discs of both flavors.

But, I don't want to get rid of the cases and art. I need a storage solution for about 150 cases. Plastic tubs have round corners, and makes the inside so messy. Cardboard is subject to too much damage where I'm thinking about storing them.

So, is there any element-proof boxes out there that keep everything nice and neat for stacking or splining these things? If not, I guess I'll just have to deal with the plastic tubs.

The Container Store should have something if an under-bed storage box from Target doesn't fit all of your cases-- I think the boxes are pretty well sealed, if not airtight, and one box should fit all the cases.
You could always Saran wrap groups of cases in the storage box, too, if the seal may not be tight enough.

Which element? Uranium?

I figured since he was mentioning plastic storage boxes that he didn't really mean weatherproof.

Unobtainium.

I assume OP meant "keep the storage boxes safe from insects, fog, condensation and rain if stored in or outside my shed" when he wrote "element-proof."

Go to Target and get the round cornered ones and just buy a slightly larger container than you think you need.

Of all the things I could over complicate, this was not one of them...

Put the cases in a sealed plastic bin on the top shelf of a 5-shelf chrome rack. If the water gets higher than that, you'll have more to worry about than just a bunch of CD cases.

How about the giant zip lock bags?

Works for my organ storage concept. Well, except the fact that I forgot to chill them...

Warm organs don't play right. Sound is all off...

The zip lock bags aren't a bad option. Put the DVDs in a zip-lock, then put the zip-locked bundles of DVDs in a cheap plastic storage bin. The bags will help keep the DVDs organized, and provide some extra protection of the elements hydrogen and oxygen.
