Got a new Dell Inspiron 3030. And also have a LG Ultrawide monitor. Did not know the Dell PC can't support 2560 X 1080 (ultra-wide). That's on me because I did not understand this, and just assumed all computers can.

I can go to a lower resolution such as 1920 X 1080, and don't mind the black boarders on both sides. But the image and fonts just don't look sharp.

It's a home computer so I don't use it much, so it should last me 10 years, like my last one. Which is still fine, I just wanted a new one.

The ratio is important to me because I also edit and personal photos and may cause me to adjust something perhaps I should not.

From what I gathered, there is nothing I can do. It's the computer's limitation.

Is there something I can do? A new graphics card or something like that? I don't know computers BTW.

So basically, install a new graphics card, and I should be able to use ultra wide? The computer should be able to detect it rather automatically?

 

Correct, the limitation is on the graphics card, not on the computer per se.

Just want to report that I got the NVIDIA GeForce GT710, off of a Youtube video's recommendation on almost the same computer. Works great and my ultra-wide looks sharp. Thanks again.
