I've decided to create this thread here in Technology, because it's really about Technology. I plan to keep this thread updated.
I finally dabbled with Midjourney (4) today, upon seeing the crazy results from 5.
I have been interested in Interior Design my whole life, and as a long-time artist (started drawing as a kid) even if I could have theoretically produced these kinds of complex drawings / productions, it would have easily taken me hours and hours (and hours) to properly draw one of these.
Enter Midjourney AI - it's allowing me to instead of draw such visions, enter all the words which would effectively describe what I have in mind, and then fine-tune and hone the result to my liking, and then tweak the result further in Lightroom and other photo editing software, to come up with the final conceptual result.
These are my first Interior Design results for a Family Room, with Midjourney AI 4. The same conceptual strings could be used for any of the other rooms in a home, to produce those renderings.
There seem to be a lot of people passing AI computer renderings off as photography.
Haven't encountered that myself, yet. But yeah, that is something else. We are going to be having to do our due diligence to decide whether what we are looking at is real or AI generated........ and this process is going to get harder and harder and harder.........

Yeah, it's really going to hurt a lot go photographers. It's a shame.
I don't see it that way - lemme copypasta something I wrote on my FB the other day -
With the advent and rapidly increasing growth of AI, as artists our individuality and style is more important than it ever has needed to be. I am convinced there are still long-standing and enduring aspects of ART which can and never will be replaced by AI. The subtle nuances that make something YOURS. And EVEN IF you tell an AI to emulate the style of someone, and it does a decent and believable job, no, that's not enough. We need something more - we need more of that definition. To go above and beyond what a computer can generate. Our minds have an organic component which has been extremely difficult for any computer to emulate. And having played with these AI apps over the last couple of weeks, I mean, I can totally tell the difference here. Now, looking down the road, am I going to be eating these words? Hmmmm.
In terms of music production, such as I do with the electronic dance music styles... the way the kick drum interplays with the bassline, the mid-bass, the melodies, the hats, the snare / clap and other percussion pieces, the very subtle nuances resulting from the compression, volume levels, side-chaining, EQ, reverb, and the wide myriad of other effects and things going on, no, I don't see AI taking the place of this. IF you could even do it to such a degree that it could make a whole song, as an ARTIST I just think you would be doing yourself a disservice. Now, see when it comes to things such as coding a program, I mean depending on how rudimentary it is, I just see that as something different, if it does not need to be such an ARTISTIC process. But nonetheless, these years are going to be VERY VERY curious. And we better be ready for it.
Keep in mind, I personally have completely avoided Midjourney (AI Image Generation Software) - and I think that was introduced like over a year ago - those were the initial iterations of AI Generated Art which piqued my interest but at the same time kept me away. (I did share to some extent, those creations others had made, regarding the various countries as villains, and such things).
That has changed today - upon seeing the capabilities of Midjourney5, I decided to jump in and try the thing out. I knew it would be a rabbit hole, and it definitely is one.
My impression of AI Art is rapidly changing today, with the advent of my initial use of Midjourney. It is showing me how I can harness the software to envision and produce the artistic ideas I have in my head, ideas which would take me hours to accurately and properly produce on physical medium. The reasons for which I have not done so to most extents, up to this point.
One of the things I am very interested in as an artist is, interior design. With Midjourney I can feed it all of the words describing what I envision about these interior spaces, and it will come up with renditions of those visions. THIS IS mindblowing. And I think I am only using Midjourney 4 for now..... I will show some samples shortly. (See above)
My first Midjourney car. Heavily influenced by one marque though... I would never call this my own. But, I told it how I would like this vintage F1 race car to look. This is what it gave me. I can't wait to start going full steam with Midjourney. This is just the beginning.
AI is going to erase centuries of education and training and traditions. Why study any art form at all, when any idiot with a keyboard can emulate any art form they want in minutes/hour? I'm an education geek and love history. IMO,This is a tragedy to centuries of artists of every type. Rembrandt, Ansel Adams, Irving Penn are rolling over in their graves.
Sorry dude. I don’t mean to in your thread. I'm just very down on AI as it relates to the arts.
I don't mind your input at all. I grapple with the similar things myself, and in fact it's why I stayed away from Midjourney for so long.
But right now, as an artist, it's allowing me to execute on the visions I've had sitting in my head for centuries. And, it's opened my eyes in ways I never considered before.
Those things you speak of, I hear you, and looking at Midjourney 5, it's just crazy. Buckle up. This is Futureshock to the greatest degree I've experienced yet. We're only just getting started.
thanks for taking a look, what are your favorite design influences? it could be anything - let me know (if you want) - and I'll whip some through!
I just like the flow of how it was designed and how the colors contrast each other. For me, I love a modern clean look. You don't have to do one as I pop my head into the site every so often but appreciate the offer.
It's been a minute - I've been having an absolute blast today with car stuff. Just mixing and matching a bunch of different stuff. Here's a sampling from today:
I have also renamed this thread as I did not create these with Midjourney... so this is now a general AI Image thread.
