mp3 remix software?

i am bored and i have decided that i have to make a remix of madonna's new single hung up. i want to mix it with caught up by usher. hung up vs. caught up. heh. anyway, i know nothing about the whole remixing thing, so yeah... i checked out download.com, but i'm not sure which applications are the best and what kind of mixing i'd actually be able to do. hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

*skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirt!*

i actually have an old version of fruity loops that i never really learned how to use. i would just make my own beats with it. didn't even know you could mix with it. just gotta transfer it from the desktop to the new lappytop.

i'll look for garage band, too. thanks guys.

I produce music as a hobbie. If you are going to try to remix a song, you will probably want to have the midis instead of mp3s... I have used Fruity Loops for years and it is probably the simpliest way to go, but again, you want to have midis, or you are going to have a real hard time sampling clean sounds from mp3s.

Eh, not necessarily. First it depends on the quality of the mp3, which can be very good and very close to the original audio file depending on the compression. Second, even if it is shit quality (or even 128kbps), it sounds like she's doing it for fun and not really trying to replicate studio dynamics.

If it is for fun, then she can really use anything then, Mixmeister, Atomix etc. I thought she was looking to do something near professional quality. I guess everytime I hear the word "remix" I always think of studio time. lol.

I listen and remix alot of the underground music, and I usually get them from the producers of the original tracks. There are also websites on the Internet where you can download the midi files for alot of more popular artists. Just google for "midi download".
