mobile help in MD

I posted this in mobile topic forum first, but only got 8 views and zero replies, so im hoping this will get me some more exposure and answers.

I'm currently with sprintpcs. I pay 40 a month (after all the bs they add to the bill, it's more like 46). I get 500 anytime minutes, ~3650 night/weekend minutes, first incoming minute free, long distance included, nationwide plan. I have the samsung a500. I think I'm paying way too much right now. I also don't like the fact that sprint is the only one that's being left out of text messaging services. Whenever somebody sends me a text, I have to go online to read it. Anyways, a friend over at ATT, says he can give me about 550-600 anytime, unlimited night/weekend, nationwide access, long distance, all that for the same price. The thing is, I don't go over my allotted minutes each month, so I'm maybe looking to spend a little less. What kind of deals are other people getting, and any advice? I'm about to call up Sprint and haggle with them for a better plan. Also, you think I can get a new phone out of them too?

Just today I viewed my first text message on my Sprint phone, a Sanyo 6400 non-color while at the Kennedy Center during an intermission. Living in DC, i find that Sprint has pretty good coverage and call clarity. When I was in school in Baltimore, Sprint was less than spectacular, and was envious of my friends services with Verizon, ATT, and Cingular. I would recommend you think twice about ATT around here, there is POOR coverage for ATT in Rock Creek Park, and in many buildings around town. I had ATT for one month, and cancelled to go back to Sprint. I must say, for being around here, in DC, Sprint is pretty darn good. They expanded alot of coverage throughout DC to Annapolis. Even when I'm on the boat during the warm months, I get awesome reception even where some of my friends (Verizon, ATT, T-mobile) don't. Not to get too specific, but in the Rhode River, I can see two Sprint towers. My reception used to be one bar, now it's all 5!!

Check with your undergrad school or place of employment to see if you are elligiable for quantity based discounts. I'm getting a discount of 18% through an affiliation with a school-

So you're saying that you can receive and send text to other people without connecting to the internet? Also, it takes like an hour to get a text from somebody with ATT. But, I do like sprint's service/coverage...very satisfied with all that and clarity. But where would I ask at my undergrad school for a group discount? How is that possible?

Yeah, I had to connect to the internet to get the text message. But whatever, I was always wondering how text messages worked, lol-

For comparision, I have been on my plan for over a year. It has 450 anytime, 3000 off peaks starts at 8pm, first incoming minute free, long distance and nationwide plan for $30 a month. You should be able to get a similar package by calling Sprint's detention department. Just dial *2 and say you want to cancel your service. They used to give out $50-$100 credit if you sign anyother contract with them. Good luck!

Yeah it's $46.46 after all the bullshit. I have that plan too - $39.99 for 350/3650.

Call them up and the guy should tell you for $.01 more ($40.00) then can give you a plan with 400 anytime minutes, unlimited night/weekend, and night/weekend start at 8pm instead of 9pm, nationwide longdistance, etc.

Are you sure you have 500 anytime? That's not the plan they offer for that price.

Btw, I find that Verizon has the best service and Sprint has the best phones. But I only have Sprint service issues when I'm out in the sticks (or this one mysterious area on MidCounty Hwy). In town there's good reception.

yeah i definitely get 500 anytime minutes, you gotta call and haggle with them like kogepan mentioned. tell them you're going to cancel and they try to keep you with their service. make up a plan that you think is appropriate, but not too outrageous, and tell them you can get that deal elsewhere with a different provider, and they usually match it or come damn near close.

better get the "right" customer service rep to pull this...everyone and their mother does it. good luck...

but sprint sure is desperate...i think they would even send a free prostitute to your home in order to keep you as a customer.
