Wouldn't it be more effective if we never used oil to make the plactics in the first place?

Oil ---> Oil

versus

Oil ---> processing ---> plastic ---> processing ---> Oil

Exactly what I said to myself before reading any comments.

What a silly comment!

Rather than acknowledge the REALITY that plastics are not about to go away,
that they are an IMMENSE burden on our already overflowing landfill sites and
applaud someone who is trying to "turn lemons into lemonade", you take the
Pollyanna-ish stance of "wouldn't it be better if there were no lemons?".

Following your example I suppose that one could make the case that
wouldn't it be more effective if humans just didn't get sick rather than
spend all this foolish time and effort on medical research and silly vaccines
and idiotic diagnostic technology?

And what's the deal with seatbelts and airbags, crumple zones, collapsible
steering columns, safety glass and padded interior panels in cars? All that
time, effort and expense invested in safety systems!!! Wouldn't it just be
more effective if we didn't have automobile accidents?

Interesting. I wonder how beneficial it really is -- from an energy standpoint. Do I need to consume more energy to create the oil than the created oil will provide? Unless it uses a geothermal or solar or other source of renewable energy this matters.

Anology fail.

The point is the cost/energy of processing then reprocessing to the original RM is probably not worth it.

Instead, minimize the use of the RM in the first place. And/or use the "second round" processing for recyling, instead of recovering oil that will be turned into plastic again in "round 3".

Whew! When you back up your argument with facts and figures like that ... how
can I possibly rebut??

You've run circles around me.

The issue is not addressed in the video. And he's probably right -- breaking down a material as stable and resistant to decay as plastic most likely requires a considerable amount of energy.

Spelling fail.

Sorry everybody, I had to do it...ok, carry on.

BTW, awesome invention, it would be cool to make gasoline at your own house from your own trash. Plus here are some specs that I found on the net that were translated from Blest by someone else:

http://www.blest.co.jp/seihin-1.html

Product name Be-h (Bieichi)
Processing capacity 0.7 ~ 1.0kg / times
Oil rate 80% (about 3 hours time)
Mechanical Dimensions 560 (W) × 320 (D) × 500 (H) mm
Weight Approximately 50kg
Power AC100V / 14A maximum
゙ cost Ranninku 1KW / hour (as a guide.)
Feature Eye can see - we are made of oil
- You begin the oil out from around one hour
How easy to use - anyone!
Home - 100V power available?

You better have a mountain of personal trash to come up with gallons of gasoline.

That's why I'm switching from buying aluminum beer cans to the plastic bottled beer, I'll have a surplus of gas if I did that.

or you could save all of your farts and boo boo fumes in a compression chamber and drive a methane powered vehicle

aja - that's a great idea being as though we have an over abundance of something unwanted and environmentally harmful and we can turn it into something useful and have one less Ferrari in the UAE.
