Looking for an mp3 player-

Any suggestions? I am leaning towards getting something that runs off a memory card instead of a hard drive (like the ipod). Going to use it while skiing, and don't think a hard drive is the best idea because of impacts and shock.

Thanks!

I don't know about shocks/ impact upsetting the HD. I drop my Dell Jukebox all the time and have never have any issues with it. The dell is a good product if you change your mind.

Can you drag files from one hard drive to the one set up by the mp3 player on your unit? I hear the software sucks and I do that for my flash player.

It's reviews are horrible and it doesn't do nearly as much.

The RCA Lyra is what got me into PVP's though. My friend has one.

Check these i-pod killers. I have the Xclef 8500 and am real happy with it. They also have the 256MB flash player right now for $70 bucks...

How long have you had it for? They're a little more than the Creative but offer more features.

If you are asking me... I've had it for about 3 months now. I bought the 40GB and I have over 3000 songs a crap load of of pics and vids and you can save word and powerpoint files, all kinds of stuff and I'm not even half ways full in space. My co-worker bought the creative 40GB also and paid more than I did and has less features than mine...

Whoops. Creative can be had for $200 but I guess he didn't shop around. Can you drag files over from your hard drive to the player's drive or do you have to use software?

Just drag them over. It's just like saving something into a thumb drive. Another thing I like is you can record music from the headphone jack of any computer or discman as well.

Wow that DMC Xclef 500 looks pretty badass. Anywhere to buy it other than that page as it appears to be sold out for now?

Best feature: Upgrade the hard drive later on.

Any update to search via artists?

There's a store that sells them on ebay. They only have right now the 100GB one for $500 but I'll wait until mid-Jan at least to start pricing.

Oh yeah forgot to ask. Is it sturdier than the Creative? Is it easier to cycle through songs? I read that the DMC had some disadvantages as far as browsing. I really don't care for the FM tuner as I'll mostly use it in my car nor the recorder. Is this thing really a better mp3 player.

PS: Sorry for asking so many questions but you seem to be the only one with experience with both.

I'm not to sure about creative, but I take my DMC to the gym and also run with it. All I know is my co-worker told me to buy the DMC because he was not to happy with his creative. He also convinced his roomate to buy a DMC and he ended up buying the 100GB. I could browse through my folders easily. The only thing I can say I don't like is it takes about aminute to fully turn on, but I was told it's just like turning on a computer. I dunno what else to say, but that I think it was money well spent...

check out www.iaudio.com they have very nice flash players. I have the G3, it's extremely easy to use, and works very well.
