Logitech Mouse with iMac - HELP

OK so my mighty mouse crapped out after 6 months of use and I decided to depart from Apple because I never loved my mighty mouse, it died young and the new magic mouse just doesn't seem that great. So I bought a Logitech MX518 and have been getting really frustrated trying to assign the functions to the buttons, I've gotten everything I want except for right click, which is fairly to very important, I am presently using USB Overdrive to even obtain that level of function, any recommendations of other software that may allow this to work 100%

I went directly to the Logitech website and DL'd the latest software. Is yours a Blue Tooth mouse? There have been reported problems with those, but my wired MX400 has worked perfectly, including right click function, and blows the mighty mouse away.

I downloaded the Logitech drivers but they don't recognize the mouse. What I have is a wired mouse, my previous mighty mouse ate batteries so I went wired this time and I had to use 3rd party software to get anything more then extreme basic functions, only now I can't get the right click to work as right click - hell I can't get ANYTHING to work for right click. I know this is a somewhat common problem, but there simply must be a solution. With no software period I had left and right click, up/down scrolling and pointer control, but that was it. Now I have everything I want except right click, it is VERY frustrating not being able to simply assign tasks to specific buttons.

Take it back and try the MX400. It's the best mouse I've ever used.

You obviously haven't had the pleasure of using an MX Revolution.

LCC doesn't recognize this mouse on a Mac, so I am stuck with third party software. This sucks because one of my IT friends told me this was the answer to all of my problems and now I've been fed up with installing a mouse all freaking afternoon.

As it being a Windows only mouse that isn't entirely true, I've had everything working, just not together, I'll get it. I wish my friend didn't tell me that this would work, it would be nice to just use the LCC software to get it working.

I'm tempted to just do that.

There website say it's a windows only mouse, it is a gaming mouse. You have no software for it for mac, windows only.

I selected this using the mouse that won't work, it is 95% functional and I've had that last 5% working with different drivers, but then I lose more advanced functions. I just have to figure out what drivers to use and it will work, I think the question is, is it worth it?

I'm thinking the answer is no.

Actually I have, with my notebook, and it's good. I just the MX400, and from what I've read there's less compatability issues with Macs.

Edit: Mine is the VX Revolution, which is the smaller laptop-sized one. Since I've become so comfortable using the touchpad, I rarely use it anymore, but it is an excellent mouse.

I was just at the Apple store and I spent some time with the Magic Mouse. It's pretty nice. I really liked the scrolling and the omni-directional scrolling was nice too. I had some trouble getting the two finger swipe to work, it wasn't consistent but that was probably cause I haven't done it before. I also had problems with the mouse moving underneath my hand when trying to execute a swipe. I wish it had pinch and zoom like the mac trackpads do.

100% operation with all buttons/functions controllable/assignable, SteerMouse was the answer. I knew I'd figure it out
