Lg Vx8700

I just saw this phone and its awesome. It has a brushed aluminum look to it, on the outside of the phone AND in the menu, looks pretty slick. And I really like how the menus aren't like Verizon's bland, omnipresent GUI.

Anyone try this phone out yet or have any reviews from either a personal standpoint or websites? Its a beautiful phone.... my contract ends in September and its just the kind of phone I've been looking for... a Verizon phone thats different.

my mom and dad just bought one. doens't feel plasticly at all since it's metal and actually has a little weight to it which i like. it feels like something is there. very good camera, good speak phone. overall to me it seems like a solid phone. i would have gotten one if the samsung sch-u740 wasn't out but i like it bc of the full keyboard. oeral i like the VG8700 a lot, very solid phone.

I've seen it, but only briefly...

If it's anything like the 8600 (which is what I had), then it'll be a great phone.

BTW... My 8600 is FS on eBay.

I just got this phone as well; I'm loving it! The screen res is amazing. My only complaint is that I have to open the phone to turn off my daily alarm.

I'm considering picking this phone up to replace my moto v710 that's 3 years old. I also need to replace my wife's v710 because it's broken at the hinge, so it doesn't stay open. We likes the look of the new chocolate (mint blue) but she really isn't big into mp3s, so I don't know if it's the right choice for her.

I just got the phone last night. It looks pretty cool, but I haven't really had any time to mess with it, yet. One thing I noticed, that I'm not too excited about, is that it takes a little while to pair up with the TL. With the v710, the phone would pair when I started the car. The 8700 takes about a minute to link up. Is there a setting in there that I need to check?

We got the LG 8550 (New Chocolate) for the wife. She didn't want a flip phone, since her v710 broke at the hinge. We'll see how they work out over then next couple of weeks and see if either of us want to exchange.

One question about the 8700 - is it normal for the back of the phone (where the battery is) to get somewhere between really warm and nearly hot? When charging or using the phone, the back of mine gets uncomfortably warm.

If it can, I haven't found out how. There are options for the ring tone and option for vibrate on/off. I haven't seen a vibrate then ring function, which I used quite often on the moto v710.

I'm starting to like this phone less - mainly because reception has been less than I was expecting. I knew my v710 was having issues, so I thought dropping calls might have something to do with the phone. Well, the 8700 is doing even worse. Singal strength is not impressive and bluetooth connectivity to the TL is less than ideal. The phone will lose connection to the car, even though the call is still connected. Though, I can't be sure if this is a phone or car issue.

Thanks Moeronn... I spoke with the Verizon dude at the mall and he did in fact conform that the phone can ring and vibrate at the same time. You just have to set it manually.

Anyways, I'm thinking about waiting for the RAZR 2 but I can't find a firm release date on it.

I know I'm a little late in this thread but I had this phone and loved it, got it back in May and used it until last week when I got my iPhone. It definetly does vibrate/ring cause thats alwasy what I had it set on but I didn't have any issues with it and it was my favorite Verizon phone that I've had.

The phone can vibrate and ring at the same time. I thought you were asking if you can set it to vibrate first, then ring if you don't answer it within a couple of rings. Sorry, I misuderstood your question.

i had that phone for about 3 weeks.. ended up exchanging it for a vx8600 because the bluetooth is defective on that model... it was a good phone and worked great but it had major issues working with the bluetooth in my car... the vx8600 worked perfectly.. i would recommend the vx8700 to anyone but if you're planning on using it with your car i'd choose a different model... i was told by the verizon guy that it didn't work with a lot of other bluetooth earpieces either.... says they're working on a fix for it...

well i'm even later on this thread but i had this phone for a few days and then returned it. heard that some places stopped selling it because of a hinge issue. i just didn't like that the external screen doesn't stay lit up so you have to click a button to view it, and then you can't see it at all in the sun.

also wanted motorola's ring tones and a "missed call" reminder, so i took it back and got the motorola w385 online - great phone. it's pretty simple, and i didn't need all the extra technology that came with the vx8700.

sure looks great though!
