LCD Televisions
LCD Televisions
I have recently been in the market for an LCD TV for my son. He is a college student and just got his first apartment and decided that he deserved a little house warming gift. His apartment is not too big and I can't see him needing (ok well he really doesn't need anything, but hey I'm a nice guy) anything bigger than 32". I have pretty much made up my mind that I will not spend more than $1300. So far I have been looking at some Samsungs and Sonys. Thus far I really like the 26" Bravia, I know that I can get a lot more TV for my money if I buy a different brand but I want something that is going to last. Does anyone have any suggestions? He is not a gamer, he does not have HD cable or satellite(but most likley will after he gets this), he does have a HD/Progressive Scan DVD player and is really into movies.
the best bang for buck lcd is syntax olevia. if you go to any audio/video forum and do a search you will get pretty good reviews. here is the 32" one, there are often deals on it and depending if you how fast you need it, the price could get better.

I remember seeing the 26" one for 500-600 bucks as a reference not too long ago. also if you don't care about HDTV(or resolutions 720 and above) it might be more worth while to get a plasma display instead. watching regular tv and dvd's looked better on a plasma screen to me than an lcd.
