Laptop Shopping!!!

I want to buy a second computer for on the go. Where do you guys suggest going to? I think I might go with a Dell (go ahead and flame, but my Dell is flawless so far) They just have the right price for me. $549 after rebate. 2.3 Celeron, 30GB, 256RAM. Any ideas????

I first bought a Dell laptop. Very expensive (not worth the money) and not what I expected. Not better than my Toshiba. So I returned it for a Dimension. Ahhh, much better.

For that kind of money, I expected a faster, brighter display, lighter.....

I'd recommend a Toshiba laptop and avoid Dells...although they make decent desktop PCs, for some reason, their laptops just are not up to par with the rest of the field...

Now, I'm not sure what your needs are, but laptops come in a couple flavors: all-in-ones (desktop replacements--which come with nice video/sound cards, burners, larger displays and are on the heavier side) or the ultra-mobility (slim, very light, can be a Tablet PC)...So, before you pick a laptop, be sure it is what you want...

dells far and wide have the best laptop display on the market...might not be the biggest, but it is the most crisp and clear.

tech really fucked me...i had an 8200...had a problem with it, and sent it to them 4 TIMES! each time they fucked up the laptop more. Finally I told them I won't sent it back again, and to just send me a replacement. Wasted countless hours on the phone for that conversation. Reluctantly they agreed, and since they couldnt find the part they had to replace (it was the scree), they replaced the 8200 with in inspiron 8500...much better laptop, but at the price of considerable time wasted

I still contend that despite all this they are probably they best support out there...at least they took ownership of the problem.

Stay away from celeron if you can...you'll be much happier...get a used p3m if you can. Even the IBM thinkpads are cool
