Joomla vs Wordpress vs Other CMS?
Anyone have experience with multiple content management systems? I need to develop a proposal for our new site, utilizing a flexible content management system.
Some of the widgets I'll need to incorporate are:
ROI calculator
Map with plot data
Metrics of some sort
Webinar registration
Some integration via registration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Etc.
Is there a difference in terms of how these custom (or not so custom) widgets could be incorporated into any of these content management systems?
Obviously, this is for a business/corporate site, and I just don't think it's absolutely necessary to spend the money on designing some sort of proprietary content management system.
Thanks BroZ.

I can't speak for Joomla, but wordpress is plenty powerful and there are lots of themes and plugins that you can buy to get your company started so you don't have to do it all.
If I were you, check out themeforest.com to look at themes that are available for various Content Management systems that are out there.
Also, I haven't had a chance to play with it, but ExpressionEngine has been one a CMS that I've been dying to try out after reading about their features and capabilities. It sounds like a great starting point, I just don't knwo how easy it is to maintain and/or customize.

I've seen a few professional business sites made with Joomla, but none with Wordpress. Not saying it can't be done, but I always associate Wordpress with bloggers.
Me? I downloaded an HTML/CSS template and just went to work Not good for what you want, however.

Here is a sample of my WP installation, just got it back up and running. Still working on updating the layout, and of course adding a lot more content.

That's what I thought, too. I've tried working with Wordpress to manipulate existing templates, but it's extremely difficult. Half the time the CSS editor never did what I wanted it to do. I usually find a few bugs in Wordpress-made sites that try to use too many plug-ins. My vote is still for Joomla.
