iTunes, iPod, iPhone question

I have a single iTunes library on one computer. Currently I have a single iPod Classic synced to that library. I just bought 2 new iPhones and would like to transfer selected music from the library to each iPhone (more music in total than the iPhone can hold), though not the same selections. Is this possible, and if so how do I do it?

Thanks

There's an option "Manually manage _____" that may allow you to do what you want to do...

Looks like the "Manually manage might work, only limitation is it only allows you to select from the playlists, not the whole library. Guess I need to create playlists for each phone.

whaaat?

if you have your devices set to manually manage. you should be able to move whatever files you want from your comp onto it. doesnt have to be in any playlist or special format.

i have a 16GB Touch and it just pisses me off a lot. the goddamn thing cannot sync meta data back to itunes. you'd rate all your songs on the go, make playlists like one that only plays 4 and 5 star songs you havent heard in 2 weeks, to keep hearing good songs but not overplayed. course when you plug it into the comp itunes overrides all the ratings, even though it's set to manually manage.

just thought i should let you know so you dont blow your lid when you find out about it later lol

Fuck this itunes crap... What ever happened to the simple drag and drop in folders? This confusion is exactly why I don't want to buy a mac. Everything seems so much more complicated everytime I use one.

i dunno if this is what everyone does but...i use playlists to manage multiple ipods/iphones on one huge itunes library. then i set it to manual so i can hook shit up to charge without syncing they songs all the time when i don't need to. then i can selectively add and subtract songs from the playlists aka different ipods when they are not hooked up and just sync it when i feel like it.

i use this for a shuffle for the gym, iphone and regular ipod on one itunes account.
