Ok...I must be retarded... how do I just put individual music tracks on this? When I try to drag and drop like I would a normal iPod it won't work. If I go in settings it has either 'sync all music' or 'sync selected playlists'. What if I don't want it to sync anything but just add music manually?

Also, is anyone else using gmail with the mail app? It is picking up all of my mail (archived) and not just my inbox. Anyone know how to fix this?

Sync to playlist and just drag and drop the songs you want onto that playlist.

If you use the tips of your fingers typing is a charm. The predictive text has an amazing dictionary (the best i have seen, even has swears) and if you are careful you dont even nee dit
This was me after playing around with Viper's phone, I thought it was sicknasty and the best phone I have used to date. Unbelievably seamless. The keyboard is better than I expected, works very well in landscape mode and you can manage thumbs pretty well, I can't wait until that makes its way everywhere in the os

Yeah thats what I've been doing, just seems kinda backwards, but I guess its pretty much the same thing.

apparently a lot of people have been complaining about that. Possibly a software update. Doesn't bother me though.

They need a lot of software updates methinks. There are no real 'problems', but it seems like the phone is capable of a lot more.

The keyboard, however, is a delight. The predictive text is fantastic... you don't even need to get the right keys, just get in the general area of what you want and it figures it out. I think I'm probably typing 40 wpm.

I think these issues are the most surprising negatives to me...

No voice recording—and more importantly, no voice dialing support. How are you supposed to use an iPhone with a hands-free car kit?
You know those great headphones you already own? They won’t fit the iPhones headset jack, so your first iPhone accessory will be a bulky, ugly $10 adapter.
WTF?

http://www.macworld.com/news/2007/06...ne10/index.php

On the plus side it seems rugged as hell. Nice optical glass, cough, Corning, cough, GLW.

the voice dialing kinda sucks, but it wasn't on my last phone so i'm not really missing it

as for the headphones....i have a pair of sony earbuds that i love and i was really pissed when they didn't fit. But i actually shaved down some of the plastic around the plug and now they fit. so i'm much happier now

I've never used voice dialing in my life.

The headphones thing is annoying because there is no reason for it. If they had just made the hole a half millimeter wider it would have been fine.

Wait until she gets stuck holding the bag on a bunch of iPhones. Seems to be plenty in stock at the Apple stores.

She's lucky she didn't get mugged walking around with that amount of cash acting like her shit didn't stink. Bitch.

Also, what's this I read about AT&T stores doing activations in the store? Was that optional or required?

Got a Q on that cool album cover browsing feature. Does it do the album art for songs that weren't bought via iTunes?

It should, but you're going to have to use itunes to find it. I updated my library when they first started the new look. You have to right click the song and select "get album artwork"

If you don't have an album name in itunes, you're going to have to put the correct album name in. ALso if the song isn't offered for sale on itunes, it won't have the artwork.

I bought the little headphone plug adapter no big deal. Its not bulky. Belkin makes one that is about 2" long and flexible rubber. Works pretty well.

But the stock mac headphones are pretty good two. phones calls with them sounded great.

Once nice thing that I can do with my shuffle that I you can't do with the iPhone, put 2 gigs of songs and "autofill" from that randomly on the 1gb shuffle.

I dont like the random fill. I have tooooo much stuff that I know I would get boned on good gym music. I did get the little nike beanie with headphones built in (made for a nano) but I hook the shuffle up to the and clip it to the back of the beanie...perfect with no cables.

If I use the iphone at the gym it would be for watching something while doing cardio. Then I would switch to the shuffle for the rest of the workout.

mine is currently about a gig. Which is more then enough for driving around (will hook it to my car stereo's aux.) I think a few hundred mbs of pictures which will grow slowly overtime. I think its the video that will fill it for me. Right now I just put Temple of Doom on it for shits and giggles at about a gig, and I'm currently ripping Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkban to put on it. Plus some odds and ends like robot chicken star wars. I do like how the sync for the movies is set up with the check box so you can always take them off or add them again easily.

What cases are you guys going with? I paid $40 for some piece of shit at AT&T store, but I think I'm going to return that and get something on Amazon. Any suggestions?

I'm forgoing a case for the time being. This thing is too pretty. With all the tests they've been doing on how scratch resistant this thing is its like why bother. macrumors has a post where they tried to gouge the face with some keys and wouldnt scratch. It also survived a 5x drop with minimal damage to the back/side of the unit.

That said, if I were to get a case I would look at a simple little slip case. Let me see if I can find the link to the one I saw earlier in the week.

I kinda like that one. simple, fits in a pocket, no stupid belt clip. But you can look at a ton of others here, just click on iphone accessories: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/accessories/

Not arguing against those of you who don't like Cingular, just thought I'd stick up for them since I've been very happy with my service.
same here. i actually switched over to cingular because it has the w810, which fully intergrates with the TL. No dropped calls...full signal everywhere i go....prices of the plans arent to much higher thatn my old service provider.....overall I dont have anything to complain about either.

my fiance has been with them for 5 years without fail...not one problem (thats another reason I switched).....she needs to be on the phone all the time for whatever reason, and to stick with them for 5 years tells me a lot!

Cool, thanks for the links. I need a case with a belt clip... I usually wear basketball shorts and a tshirt - no pockets.

Why do all the ringtones suck so much? and you can't change the ringtones for incoming messaging or texting. I can't even hear when i get a message or mail. if i'm expecting something i to walk around with it in my hand. that's the only thing i don't like. besides no messenger, or not being able to download anything from the web. and so far won't accept any incoming files from bluetooth.

Shortcomings and all, it is still the best electronic device I have ever purchased.

What reviews are you talking about anyway? They are overwhelmingly positive from what I've seen.

Hey my friend in maryland just called me.

Said he went to his father's house and had no signal. No phone and no data. Because the phone couldnt find the edge network it wouldnt let him use the house's wifi either. He's spent the last hour trying to find something in the online manuals or the settings, so far nothing.

We are calling and posting other iphone people to see if this is the case with them as well, i have no been in a lacking area so i cant test it. If this is true though, then this is one truly shitty thing they've done, and didnt tell anyone about beforehand either.

But before getting all pissy over I just want to confirm it, and that isnt some setting that has been missed.

how are you getting it to work? i tried sending files from my mac computer, and also my other phone and the iphone won't accept anything. Also the other route i tried to do that is almost making me very upset is that if you send pics or files in your email, the iphone will not let you save them onto the phone. man i'm itching to find a way to hack into this thing to change the settings and make it do what normal phones do. haha but all the other features are very cool. and the phone is thin and great looking.

I have another question. can anyone view anything they want on youtube? it seems there are only a certain ammount of videos on there, and you can't log into your account on youtube. I tried going on safari and was able to log into youtube that way, but then i can't watch anything. says i need to install java to watch. but then iphone won't let you download it. haha i'm frustrated. they have this thing locked up tight.
