I snagged 2 at Fido in Barrie

 

damn, what kinda plan did you get? I have a quiz at 1:30 and need to study before hand, won't be able to make it to the store until 2ish, hopefully because Windsor is so economically depressed there will still be some in stock.

 

well I just called, they are sold out looks like I'll have to call retentions

 

I was talking to a rep on the phone and he said they still have considerable stock remaining at the moment and that it will take at least a few days to sell out...but then again who can really trust what these reps say

oh yeah I have a question for you dougler, did u have data at all when you were using your 1g iphone? these reps wont shutup about how i'm gonna get a massive bill on a voice only plan b/c the iphone is constantly updating itself and is thus gonna use data without the consumer noticing...is this true?

^ I heard from another cell store that although customers might expect for their monthly bills to rise, some will probably be surprised when their bills jump from ~$60 to ~$180. I don't know how they came to those figures, but that is the general expectation. Again, only what I heard and don't know all of the facts behind it except that it relates to the data portion of the plan/bill.

 

Doesn't sound like a good idea to rush into anything at this point.

 

lol what the hell, how can it be so hard to control data...if i get voice only i dont see how that is different from a regular cellphone where you have to launch a browser etc etc...i'm pretty sure they are saying alot of this to really push the data plan on consumers, b/c the phone is subsidized quite a bit so they probably want to milk the iphone contracts for all they can

Whoever told you that is dumb as hell. I've had mine since sept and have never incurred a data charge. All you have to do is go to the mail settings, turn off auto checking, and in the settings do not input the fido internet APN and there is no way that the phone can even access the fido internet portal. trust me you'll be fine without data.

btw, I called Fido, my black 16gb will be delivered to my door no later than the 18th. used a 106 fido dollars towards it

ya please let us know the plans you got, I think your going to regret not getting data, it was always a little draw back, but if your in an area with wifi I guess it's a moot point. you on fido or rogers?

 

Hey yeah so previously I was on a family plan that was coming out to about $70/mo with SAF and taxes for both lines combined. The specs weren't that great though - 250 pooled minutes, free weekends and unlimited calling (including 1000 min LD) between the 2 lines...but thats about it...recently I added callerID on one line for $6/mo

This is what I got set up today, basically a modified version of the family plan (so I keep the unlimited + LD between the 2 lines) + free weekdays (8pm) + free weekends + 400 minutes each line + callerID each line + 500 texts each line...this came out to $20/mo for each line (+taxes and SAF)

They gave me the one 8GB for $249 and the 16GB (black) for $349...we'll see how it goes once they come in...hopefully by Wednesday!

 

What carrier are you with? Looks like the 1000LD minutes has disapperad or I can't find it on the site, I have it on my plan and sure as hell won't let it go. The retentions person I spoke with was very in a rush. I was thinking about making some plan changes, but he was very, listen you phone is in the mail, when you call to activate then you can make changes, I could tell they were on the comission, my plan is good now, but I willl make some adjustments when I actually recieve it.

 

Well don't you think half the city was calling Rogers & Fido, "threatening" to leave or wondering what Rogers/Fido could do to "help" if they bought the iPhone? I can completely understand how they couldn't spend 15 minutes with each customers when they probably had hundreds of other customers on hold.

 

i kept my country fido no SAF plan, and changed from $30/300MB to $30/6gigs. It was a lot easier than i thought it would be! I was worried they'd make me start paying SAF, but my new contract clearly shows it's not applied to my account.

and the best part about getting the new iPhone, is that my monthly bill will not change at all, it remains the same it's been for the last several years.

Anyone got visual voicemail working yet, i don't think it's activated...

 

I'm with rogers and the rep I was speaking to didn't seem in any rush, it took me just under an hour to get everything done and she seemed pretty reasonable...but I guess it varies quite a bit from rep to rep



That sounds like a good deal, how much is it coming out to total with your voice + data? You had to extend your plan for 3 years right? ... How is it performing so far?

still no shipping confirmation, apparently it could be as late as august 1 now.

 

They are very hard to come by right now depending where you live.

My parents havent been able to get them, nor my friend who lives here...but is currently on vacation in Maine.

 

damn i heard fido stocks are really low...my 2 from rogers came in today

 

hopefully it ships tomorrow, I mean they have to be getting close through Friday's que. When you call in now, it just says their out of stock and you can join a waitlist if you want.

 

Just called in to check the status, the rep said while there is no tracking number yet, it says processed today so a number should be available late today or tomorrow.
