Get a laptop that has built in Wi-fi and you're good to go...

I'm using Sprint's USB Sierra Wireless Compass 597, 50 bux a month, speeds of 300KB/s... the best out of everything I've tried.... So far worked for me perfectly from West Coast to East Coast traveling.

And Eddie, all laptops now have built-in wifi... I would just make sure that they are draft-N ready.

Wifi Card - Is in pretty much any new laptop. Will get you onto a wireless LAN such as the ones in Starbucks...or the one in your home. The ones out and about are generally not free (cost per use or maybe a voucher for a few hours, etc - there are some free places such as Pantera breads and some Dunkin Donuts). In your house its free if you have a wireless router.

Wireless Network Cards - Sold at Verizon, ATT, Sprint, etc. Can use anywhere you can get a signal, but its like a cell phone contract. Costs about $50 a month.

No Sir, any computer (desktop/laptop) with a USB port will work...

You need wifi only if you want to catch free internet, if you have such a luxury in your area. I cannot depend on "luck internet" so I pay for it.

I didn't know Pantera made bread, I just thought they were a speed metal band.

I learn something new everyday.
