All of this morning at work was all about the celebrations and festivities. It's gonna be exciting for the customer, just wait until you see what's in store coming up.

New phones, new services, new plans, new everything. It's gonna be all good for the customer. And we're poised to surpass Verizon in short order. I never though the day would arrive when there would be two wireless companies bigger than the great verizon. But they got big thru mergers and so will we. Bet me by this time next year, Verizon will drop to number 3.

And yes I have my Nextel phones and things are gonna get better in that area....much better.

I'm really excited about this.

Sprint has rights to both NASCAR and the NFL.

You're on, friendly bet. As long as Verizon doesn't merge with anyone else between now and August 1, 2006 I bet you that Sprint-Nextel will have more subscribers on record than Verizon. Today the customer numbers are: Cingular 50 million, Verizon 45.5 million, Sprint-Nextel 44 million, and T-Mobile 18.2 million. Honestly I think we will pass them before the year is over good, just after Christmas.....but Verizon has a very low churn.

Great! now how about new customer service

Seriously though, is sprint going to get the razor phone? :crossfingers: Or at least a similar phone that has a camera and multi-media that is slim and gets great reception, unlike the samsung IP-A790, or I600?

Actually I believe customer service is the #1 area for improvement at Sprint. Even before products and services, the goal is the have the best in class when it comes to customer care. So somebody else is working on that aspect to improve that area, I'm gonna try to get some good phones out there.

Can't comment on the razr....

Haha, well I guess we have a bet. I believe V thinks they are going to do well and thus they should tell their employees that they will do well. Somehow I just don't understand how you can increase your numbers at the same time you LOSE the #1 cellular retailer account on the planet. But you shall give it a noble effort I'm sure. Good luck! You guys are great but you could be working for any carrier and still be great doing a great job. I do think V is going to merge with someone to try to stave off Cingular and Sprint.....

congrats...... plz tell them to make sure that the Sprint network doesn't get any of the traits of the Nextel network after the merge..... my friend has Nextel and I have never seen someone so mad about their phone's network range..... on the other hand I could not be happier with the quality and availability of Sprint networks... thx

my friend keeps trying to scare me by saying that after the merge, Sprint network signal and reception is gonna suck.... plz tell me it's not true

Okay so try and sell me on the "new Sprint." I had Sprint from 2000-2002 and hated it. Always dropping my calls and holes in the coverage area.

I currently have Verizon and couldn't be happier. I've got a good plan, a decent phone (i'm not a phone snob, V710) and out of 2,000 minutes I talk per month I might get 1 dropped call.

I also have a Nextel phone for work. The direct connect feature is great... when it works. I can't say i've EVER had a conversation where I didn't have to say "you broke up, try that again" or "i'm losing you" etc. Same for the standard phone service. Coverage is very spotting and I'm in a large market (DC Metro area).

What network changes are planned?

I was looking for the numbers and found them:

Verizon Wireless added 1.9 million new subscribers in the second quarter, breaking not only its own record for net customer additions, but setting the new benchmark for the industry.

I think its a good time for the mobile industry..... I get the feeling, just from people I know, that a lot of people who like never had cell phones because they never thought they ever needed em, etc, are getting them now... also, people who had been clinging on to dinosaur cellies from the 90's are finally upgrading, and I'm pretty sure almost 100% of the time that happens, they need to signup for new service. are you noticing this?

For instance, my dad finally got rid of his Moto StarTac from the mid 90's this past week... I think he finally noticed it sucked... lol. Replaced with a megapixel phone... quite a step up...... now guess who gets to show him how to use it - he was asking me how to STO and RCL.... I was like wow you are old skool.... lol...... Anyway and my mom had an older phone, she got a new one too, both required new accounts.. and other friends we know have similar stories.

That is why as saturated as the market is...people will always need service, new equipment and always be a demand for communication, email, im, text message, voicemail ect...

and people say there is no money in cell phones...

My Nextel bills are always about $250 a month...Nextel lost me to Cingular due to the Razr...and I've had two calls after the switch trying to find out WHY I left...too bad they didn't respond that way before I left when I called 3 or 4 times trying to see if they would really like to keep me as a customer after 6 years...

Their reps have no bargaining power at all...Cell companies need to EMPOWER their people...it would make a huge difference..they would keep their customers rather than having to chase them "after they've left..."

I totally hear you. I'm not sure what to do in such case but I'd like to think I can do my part to get the type of phones out there that people want...even if that is a small part of the process. I promise you...we're going to get such phones. I have seen them....and they're coming. But it will take time (I understand fashion has time limits).
