I hate at&t
this isn't so much about cells/pdas as it is me just bitching about at&t
My blackberry curve has shit the bed, I can no longer text and I am lucky if I can press send to answer or make calls. I'm fucking pissed.
I called at&t yesterday only to have them tell me "Sorry, your warranty just expired... yesterday." This is total bullshit, i'm going to the corporate store to bitch and complain until they cut me some kind of deal, at the minimum I want 2 yr contract pricing. Fuckers.

They told me that I couldnt get insurance for my curve and that the only way I could was to put it on my home-owners insurance. They todl me that within the first 2 weeks after getting my phone. I asked them on the phone yesterday and they said that was not true, I could have got insurance.
Bullshit.

Sorry. Buy insurance?
Either way this doesn't really have anything to do with AT&T does it?
If the phone is out of warranty...it's out of warranty. That would cause them to chuck out money from their own pocket versus Blackberry to replace it. It sucks, yea, but that's not really AT&T's fault.

Can't buy insurance after the fact.
I totally am an understanding person when it comes to this shit, its my fault i didn't call them earlier. But oh well, being irrational can yield results sometimes. So we shall see how it goes.

I can concur that the AT&T reps are retarded. I called the other day to pay my final bill, and they said I was all paid up (eventhough I had the bill sitting in my hand). I argued with the terd sniffer for 15 minutes and said forget it. I called the next day and they told me how much I owed and that we can take care of it right now.

i've called them up tons of times, for myself and friends to get a new phone.
do this:
call them and tell them your phone is acting up and you need a new one, "what are my options?"
- when they tell you to buy one full price tell them i can leave ATT, pay the cancellation fee, come back and still have paid less than buying the phone new, so why would i ever pay for it new? "i'd lilke to cancel my acct"
-now this is the hard part. they'll keep you on hold for what feels like 30 mins (and it might be) to get you to drop and call back and complain with no success. if you stay on long enough you'll end up talking to the cancellation dept. (aka customer retention) and they'll give you MUCH better pricing on the phones. i've gotten the curve for $70 (w/extension of contract) which is the price if you come as a new customer to ATT.
worth a shot

AT&T just blows in general. I had them previously, canceled after spending 40 minutes trying to find someone to cancel my contract. Switched to T-Mobile, which had excellent customer service except I got 0 bars like every other spot meanwhile everyone had a fucking signal. Then bought another phone with Cingular or whoever, only to find out AT&T bought them out, so now I'm back to AT&T.

I switched to AT&T for the iPhone. Big mistake. I love the phone...fucking hate AT&T. I will not be renewing my contract in November and I'm going to tell Apple why. If they could make a Verizon iPhone...my god I'd be happier than a pig in shit.

Call them and say you wanna cancel and when they cancellation department ask why, just explain your phones warranty jus expired and doesnt work. Your willing to upgrade and pay for the phone at a discount price but retail doesnt make sense becuase no one buys at that. Hopefully theyll do it but if they start canceling and you dont want to, HANG UP. Just call back later. Had my friend do that to upgrade to a iphone 3g with being only 3 months into the contract. They sold him a refurb 8gb for 150 when they were on sell for 100. 50 bucks more isnt bad compared to the 399 they wanted orignally.

Im serious. Tmobile and verizon jus suck here. I have verizon before and could get calls in my living room but in my room i never got a call. No service. If i would go right outside of my room it would work. Tmobile worked in my room as long as i was by the window. Other then that it didnt work. Att works but range goes low.

But aside from that, I think they have great service (signal strength) although their customer service needs some improvement. There is a serious disconnect between what they tell you and what actually gets done. It takes some serious reminding.

Okay here's the dealio. On the phone yesterday they told me there was nothing I could do since my warranty was expired, they told me to go to their corporate store to see what my non-warranty options were. So that's what I did today and here's what happened.
I drove the 30 minute trip to the corporate store, got out of my car and walked in... "Can I help you?" The sales rep asked. I explained my situation. He told me there was nothing he could do in the store and didn't know why they suggested I go there. He then suggested I called at&t and bitch some more... So I did that.
After being on the phone for 20 minutes with someone from at&t they decided they would give me an early upgrade, which allows me to pay the price of a phone with a new 2 year contract, but with a $75 fee on top of that. "Whatever, that works." I thought to myself.
So I went back into the store to go buy the 8gb iphone. "The iphone is the only phone you can't get with an early upgrade," Is what I was told. So now I don't know what phone to get and I still have this shitty blackberry in my pocket. I'm going to the mall later today to look at more phones.
cliffs:
- Yesterday at&t told me to go to corporate store to work shit out
-drove 30 minutes to corporate store only to be told they couldn't do shit and didn't know why i was told to go there
-bitched at at&t via the phone some more and got an "early upgrade"
-chose to get iphone
-iphone is only phone excluded from early upgrade purchases
-I am pissed and still have a shitty blackberry
-trying to decide what phone to get next.

I did an early upgrade for the BB Bold, I paid $250, got a $100 rebate, so it cost me $150 in the end. I know selling your phone isn't an option, but I'm also selling my curve and hope to make up some more money from the sale too..
