HULU has launched

http://www.hulu.com

The site has finally launched after months of beta testing and figuring out the best user experience. It's a joint venture between NBC Universal and Fox to bring to the users current content and past content while bringing on many other brand name shows. I've been working on this project since it was announced late spring 07. Anyway, check it out and enjoy.

Ugh, why can't you guys make it so that if I pause it it'll load. I don't have the fastest connection in the world.

Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

So if you helped make this site can I make a small suggestion?

While browsing the videos say for example the SNL videos there's 94 "pages" with 5 videos on each. The problem is while browsing it always starts on page one. So if I browse from page one to page ten and pick a video there and begin to watch it if I want to continue browsing videos while watching a clip I have to start over at page one again and browse through the ten pages I've already seen in order to get to page 11. It should stay at page 10 when I watch a video from page ten and not start over.

Veoh is an aggregate site. They actually embedded Hulu's tags within their site.

It would be awesome if they sold clips for crazy cheap like .50 cents you could use on your ipod Like Jobs would allow that. But yeah it would be great if they let you watch for free with an option to buy or you could pay a subscription and have no commercials. I am glad to see they wised up and put old episodes on there as well.

A lot of it has to do with the content partners and how they want to distribute their content. Right now, it's just through advertisers to monetize their content while having some links to buy their dvds. Depends on what makes sense and I'm sure it's not going to be .50 cents

Join Netflix or use iTunes or the Amazon streaming thing for movies. You'll have to pay but they're not expensive.

That said, hulu rocks.

If they are using streaming server then probably not, and sinec they are running flash video on their site, I wouldn't be surprised if they are running the Flash Media Server in order to stream the videos.

What's also cool about this site is that they offer a 480p option to watch...I know not the best but it's still pretty good for most sites.

That's just the tip of the iceberg my friend.

The new version of Flash Player, version 10, has H.264 built into it. As more companies begin to adopt it, we'll have streaming HD on our computers.

Streaming HD, but not much of an audience for it.... if AT&T et al. decide to { implement monthly caps }.

Hulu has just announced a standalone app that you can install so that you can access the videos with a nice interface that can be controlled with a remote including the apple remote or a windows media center remote. Check it out it's pretty good.

When does the integration with Windows Media Center come? The Netflix integration they did is pretty sweet. You put Netflix and Hulu on the same interface, and I'd have an excuse to cancel my cable bill!
