How to put a Youtube video into a Powerpoint presentation

Hey, I thought I would ask this here,

Does anyone know how to put a You Tube video into a Power Point? Is this even possible? I think it would look much more professional if it was integrated into the presentation versus clicking on a link and getting out of it.

Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

your best bet is to download the video, and possibly convert it

There are a bunch of software for this, also this site can help as well http://www.techcrunch.com/get-youtube-movie/

Good luck.

P.S. The videos on youtube are flash, so you can play without converting it.

I have seen embeded screen captues in PPT. But the size of PPT was huge due to the fact everything was local within the PPT.

Embeding a web resource I am not sure if it will work.

First question is will you have internet access during the presentation? If so then its very easy. If not you will have to download the video and convert it and then do some other tricky stuff.

The following assumes you have something older than office 2007. If you have office 2007 I can show that as well.

With your presentation open go to View > Toolbars and click Control Toolbox. Once this toolbox appears, the lower right icon will be for more options. Once you click on the More options you will need to scroll down and select "Shockwave Flash Object". Place this in the project where ever you want. Right click on the object and select properties. Find the Movie selection in the properties window. This is where you will place the URL, but it needs to be modified.
Take the standard url http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AGBUxPg1aA
Now convert it to this http://www.youtube.com/v/4AGBUxPg1aA

The code at the end will vary depending on the video you select

spdy, thank you for that. I will be using '07 though and I will have internet access in the room I will be presenting in. Is there a different process for that?

Thanks! I appreciate everyone's help.

In 2007 you first need to make sure you have the devloper tab enabled in the ribbon bar. First click on the Office button on the top left. Now click on PowerPoint options. There is now a checkbox for "Show developer tab in ribbon bar" or something close to that.

Now click on the Developer tab and in the controls section you will see the "hammer and wrench" icon for "more controls". From here everything is the same as I wrote for the older version.

Thank you very much for your help, my presentation ended up being a hit!

I have another question, what if it's a video outside of youtube?

I need to put in a video from this source:
http://www.truveo.com/Fears-Grow-In-.../id/3363411420

I can't figure it out, and I can't save the video to my desktop in order to upload it to youtube. can anyone help?

Thanks
