How to get discount?

How to get discount?
Ok, so my family and I, have been using Verizon for several years now, but it is to the point where the bill is just ridiculously expensive.
A good friend of mine, who use to work at Sprint, gets discount on his plan (sprint)
Now, he hasn't work for sprint in 3 years. But he continues to get this "discount"
Apparently, its a discount anyone can use because I told him about my circumstances and he said he can hook my family up with the discounts.
There was also a time, where me and some other friends, including the ex-sprint, were just talking and they seemed to know about the discount as well, and they don't even work for a phone company.
One of my friend was saying, "Oh, you going to hook him up with _______? ... Man, of course I know about that!" (He uses Verizon)
I couldn't hear what the actual name was.
And every time I ask them what the discount name is, they simply say, don't worry about it.
Which is why I come to you guys...
I'm hoping from the context of the "story" some of you guys know what exactly I am talking about.

The Sprint "discount" you are referring to is called SERO. Unfortunately it is no more. It's now called the "Employee Plus Referral Plan". It does not offer the same level of discount as SERO did.
The only way to get a SERO discount is to find someone willing to transfer their account over to you.
I've been on SERO for a bunch of years and will never give it up. I pay (with insurance & taxes) $41.07 a month. My wife has the same plan. I can tether for free too.
SERO F&F 500- $30.0
Plan Features:
* 500 min/m
* Unlimited Web
* Unlimited Data
* Unlimited Text Messaging
* Unlimited Roaming
* Unlimited Mobile to Mobile (pcs to Pcs)
* Free Long Distance
* Unlimited Night & Weekend Mins. Included
* Nights: M-Th 7PM-7AM Wknd: F 7PM-M 7AM

I've had a 23% Sprint discount since I was in residency. It was through the hospital I worked at and I've kept it ever since. Prolly why I will never leave Sprint.

try this to see if you get employee discounts, it may help.
enter your zip code and then i think it asks for your work e-mail address.

So now with a Blackberry I pay ~$79.99/month for:
* 1200 minutes
* Unlimited Blackberry access
* Unlimited Web
* Unlimited Data
* Unlimited Text Messaging
* Unlimited Roaming
* Unlimited Mobile to Mobile (Sprint)
* Free Long Distance
* Unlimited Night & Weekend Mins. Included
* Nights & Weekends start at 7pm
To sign up I just googled and found a name and employee code... popped into the website, worked like a charm. Then I chose my phone (which was also discounted), my plan, and it shipped in like 3 days.
So I only pay about $10/mo more then the SERO plan I had, however, I now have a Blackberry instead of a Palm. I also have more minutes now then I had on my SERO plan.
I will admit though that I just checked Sprint's site and it looks like they changed this plan yet again... b/c they list the $80/mo plan as having 1000 minutes, and then they add $20/mo for BB service. So they have altered it since I signed up... which sucks b/c even with the new plan it was a pretty good deal. Doesn't appear to be the case any longer...

My wife and I pay barely over a $100 a month for two phones with unlimited data and far too many minutes.
I also have customer service kissing my ass and speaking proper English every time I talk to them (which thankfully is rare)
I hear all these horror stories about Sprint and I just don't get it.

My family gets a 20% discount on our ATT Wireless bill because I put in my UT Austin email address. They never ask for verification or anything either (other than the mail.utexas.edu email address), so I'm assuming I'll get to keep it for long after I graduate too.
