How to e-mail large files?
I have a file that is almost 56gb,which is way to large to e-mail. What is the best way that I can send this? Do I need to split this, and then try to send it in a few parts? How can I do that? Thanks for the help.

Do as other's mentioned or you could upload it somewhere and have the other person download it.
Like a torrent or filesharing site.

I didnt even see that he needs to move 56GB... Port to a flash drive or a hard drive and send over mail. Or setup a server on yourside and let them download it. Otherwise this is pointless.

i am not even gonna guess how long its gonna take you to upload 56GB I hope you have a good internet connection....
uploads 55gb and connection drops
but yeah you can use Google Drive (you will have to buy storage) or Dropbox....
download a tool called 7-zip....zip the 56GB up....use GZ (unix zip, since compression will be better)....then load it to Google Drive and share the link....

Give the OP a break.
He has a file that is to large and wants too know what too do about it.
To many times people give bad advice about what too do.
We should all do our part too help him try too solve this problem, and we should be nice about it to.

Good advice is: zipping wont do much probably, need to know what type of tile to know what kind of compression. Cloud storage (dropbox, google drive, etc) gives you up to 5GB (10GB max) storage for free, the rest you need to pay for.Best bet is to buy a 64GB USB flash drive and fed ex it to wherever its going.

^^^ you can setup a server config and FTP the file as well

But I can only think of two ways to move 56gigs over the net: Torrent-ing or setting up an FTP server - two options which are probably outside of OP's comfort zone.
I think Whiskers is right, gotta buy a cheap flash drive and fedex/overnite that pr0n folder.

FTP is by far the easiest way. Even if the FTP server is local to the OP.
If not, just put it on a flash drive as mentioned and mail it.

^^^ 56GB...
I bet the video contains all your childhood
am just messing with you....
as I said, download 7-zip...gzip that thing up....get more storage from google...upload it, email it....
when all of your family has downloaded it, reduce the storage....all in all you will spend $5

Zipping a video wont do much, its usually already compressed.

I mean if he's on a MAC a FTP server is a few clicks away.
You could always re-encode the video to a smaller size too...

Needs more Lemon Pledge
A little known downside to GDrive is that they cap your upload speeds at around 300b/s. Some services like TransferBigFiles.com can double or triple that and upload much faster.

I have uploaded many 80-100mb files in less than a minute, which is not possible if the speeds were capped to 300bps...

If it's a video, upload it to YouTube (or Vimeo), mark it as private or unlisted, then send everyone a link to it. Done.
