Help with SpyEraser

This program, SpyEraser by Uniblue, has somehow ended up on my desktop. I have no idea how it got there, and I don't remember ever clicking on something that would let it install.

Every few minutes, it starts up a spyware search, gives me a few results and tells me to buy the full version of the program in order to get rid of the spyware. There's no button that I can see to shut it down.

I've gone into the Program Files folder to try and find either a SpyEraser folder or a Uniblue folder. Nothing. There's no way to uninstall it either from the Control Panel (add or remove programs) or the Start Menu. And for some reason, I don't have access to my Windows Explorer right now either. My desktop display has vanished, as has my Start menu and everything. I tried to restart in safe mode to see if I could find a way to get rid of it, but I couldn't.

Has anyone else run across this piece of shit program? Any ideas on how I can regain proper control of my computeR?

I had recently run into this stupid program not too long ago. You won't find an uninstall file for it because there isn't one. It's a DLL file in your System32 file. It may be a different name than the one I had removed. Click Start, type msconfig, and click on Startup tab. Look towards the bottom and it should give you the name of the DLL file that you may think it doesn't go there with the rest of the startup programs.

If you're unsure, post a screen shot and I may be able to assist better.

A little bit of googling turned up this:

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/527778

Scroll down a little and you'll see which process to terminate and which file(s) to delete. Hope it helps.

Update:
I’ve deleted the msctrl32 file as recommended in some places and here. However, I do not have a start menu, quick launch, or system tray. I don’t have a desktop background image, and I can’t right-click on where my desktop background should have been.

Anyone with ideas? This is really frustrating!

I had a trojan about a month ago that was very similar. Try this page: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/viru...cyber-security

It has links to a couple of programs that might help, "rkill" and "Process Explorer."

Try following the directions on that site but substitute "msctrl32" where it talks about "cybersecurity." You may have to do these steps manually in safe mode before being able to download and run Malwarebytes, because some of these trojans will block you from being able to access anything.

Good Luck!

Ok got it done!

Malwarebytes was able to get rid of the trojan after I'd gone in and deleted the file in the registry. Finally.

Now, back to the pron
