Help me understand LTE please

I have a Nexus 5 with StraightTalk running on ATT lines. LTE is supposed to be available in my area. Frequently, when out, my phone indicates an LTE connection but can't find a server. I have voice service and can run speed test. Why no server?

Does your plan support it?

Do you have the necessary SIM card?

LTE is Verizon's version of 4G. If you have LTE on your plan and your phone is LTE capable, go back to Verizon.

You may not have the right SIM card as suggested by Ken.

If you don't, it's $6.99 --> http://www.shopstraighttalk.com/bpdi...amily=simcards

then transfer your account info to it and change the APN settings. New settings should read:

Name: Straight Talk
APN: tfdata
Proxy: not set
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
Authentication Type: PAP
APN Type: default,supl,mms,hipri
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
bearer: unspecified
mvno type: none

Thanks to all. AZuser, you get a gold star. Yes Ken, I have the right sim upgraded in November when the phone came out. I have probably been through 10-15 sets of APN'S suggested by ST and everyone else trying to get MMS to work. Found one finally about two weeks ago. LTE may or may not have worked with some of the changes, I'm usually on WiFi.

Anyway, just set AZuser's APN settings and for the first time MMS and LTE are both working. Now I will stay with ST ATT and be totally happy with my N5 thanks.
