Help How do I reset a linksys password?

We don't know what our password is, for our apartment's linksys. How do I reset it, its really annoying trying to steal other peoples wireless. So what are the steps its a basic linksys adapter 802.11g.

Do you have access to the actual unit? There should be a reset button - probably recessed - that you need to push to set everything back to defaults.

push and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 30 sec. It will reset it to the default settings.

There is no "main computer." You'll need to login as admin with the password linksys, IIRC.

depends on the model of the linksys. Some will be username you leave blank, and for password you type "admin".

Some others I believe will have admin for username and password for password (I may be wrong on this second one, but I know the first one works on a lot of linksys routers)

Lol, well I reset it by doing the reset button. I tried logging on with password as admin, as well as admin for user name and admin for password didn't work. Oh well would putting a password on keep me from accessing xbox live?

Did you put password in the user name field? Just making sure. Username should be left blank, and admin should be in the password field. Do you know the model number?

Are you unable to log onto xbox live through xbox, or do you not know how to do it?

If it is the former then here are two options based on your connection type:

If it is wired then you should not have to do anything, unless your router NAT is restricted. If it is, go to portforward.com and open up UDP 88, TCP/UDP 3074 to your xbox IP.

If it is wired, then you'll first need to enter the WEP key into the xbox and then do the above it your router is NAT is restricted.

To check whether your NAT is restricted following the instructions provided on live.xbox.com

LOL you're having all sorts of problems with this thing aren't you...

Post the Model # of the router here, along with all your PC/Laptops/Game Systems that you want to connect and how they are connected (wireless, ethernet).

I'll do my best to help you start off from scratch and set it up correctly.

Its WRTGA router, we are trying to hooke up 3 notebook computers and one xbox 360. The cable modem kinda died. So now I'm stealing wireless again.

if you look on the back of the router is should tell you the default login

then once you login you can change the password as well as create a new WEP key
