I like that I get transcripts of voice mails, if I am in a meeting I can just glance down at my iPhone and don't have to get up and excuse myself to see what someone wants.

I really like the ability to give a separate number to people I don't know. If they start to be weird, it's so easy to block their calls. I also have my friends text my GV number so if I want I can reply on my PC. I just wish you could send picture messages to the GV number.

I love my Google Voice number. I wish it was easier to forward it to my number up here, but I am sure one day that will happen.
Did you pick area codes where you live, or just go for good ones?
I took one in the 909

Yeah, it seems very useful. I have a droid and don't want to pay Verizon $3 a month for Visual Voicemail. I'm using the YouMail app now and it works alright, would rather have all of the Voice features.

PM if you're willing and able to send one. Thanks in advance.

It's not an invite type of thing anymore afaik. Just go to the site & register, they'll let you know when a slot opens. It took me 3 months to finally get in, but they're ramping up the process, my gf got hers in less than a week after signing up.

edit: the email voicemail is awesome.. it's even able to dictate my good buddy who has a thick accent.

I got an invite from thunder04 and it does rock! Visual VM ++ blocking calls FTW. Plus, I was having a little fun with the wife last night using my Voice number to text her naughty things. She was like, who the FUCK is this?

Because I now have an account, does that mean I have invites? If so, how do I use them?

I was sending my girl a SMS with directions using Google Voice. It gives you a counter of how many SMS it will be using as well as the characters. But after awhile it gets fed up

Each account should get 3 invites. We use it for marketing purposes to track call responses via ads, so it's pretty cool. Unfortunately we've used our invites for our facilities.

However, your invites should be under your "Calling Credit" box along the left side of GV.

the app is for unlocked IPhones, its called GV Mobile. I added my GV number to my A-List with AT&T. Now every call is free when I use GV.

$10 aint bad. In fact their LD calling rates aren't too bad either. It's 100x cheaper than AT&T's rates.

I still don't see the point of it. I only have my cell phone, I'm happy with AT&T Visual Voice mail. I don't need a second number, and I don't have to hide who I'm calling or receiving calls from. What is everybody using their GV number for?

Screening calls. Give it to people who want to always be able to reach me (since I can set it to forward to a number depending on what time it is).

Since I work in the dungeon and don't get cell coverage, I can give out that number and always be reached.
