Free Bluray playback software

Does anyone have or know of a free Bluray playback software? Being that my computer had a total failure, I had to format all the petitions, including the one that apperently contained the recovery files needed to create a recovery disc. I never created these as none of the documentation that I got with the computer even mentioned this partition and what it contained. I double checked just now and definitely no mention of it. I am not going to pay Sony to send me recovery discs when I think it's rediculous that they do not ship computers with recovery discs anymore. Especially when I have a genuine windows cd. I fully plan on selling this computer as I mentioned in my other thread I plan to switch to a Mac. In the meantime, until I figure out what to do on a replacement, I want to be able to playback bluray discs on clients systems. So I would like to install a program that allows you to playback them that is a free download. I don't know if any exist though.

what kind of processor do you need/ vid card?

I tried an x264 copy of the shining and it looked great on my 21," but choppy.
You may remember my frankenstein/dino computer. 2.4 ghz pent4, with 4gigs of ddr ram and a 264mb ati card.

I'm just wondering, if I tweak something maybe they'll work.

I forgot to add, I can run 1080 on this "machine." Planet Earth HD runs great on my 32" LCD running 1280x1024

If you got a newer graphics card windows can offload most if not all of the decoding to the GPU while older cards will on get some or none of it offloaded. Not sure what socket your P4 is. If it's a 478 you're screwed if it's a socket 775 then you might be able to upgrade your processor to an older Core 2 Duo or Pentium D if your mobo supports it.

run cpu-z to figure out which socket you have.

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

then gpu-z to find the gpu.
