Computer Problem: Windows 7 Not Booting Up
I reinstalled Windows 7 on my built computer. It restarted several times, and after I finally got to the decktop, it restarted once more, only this time the screen went black after it posted. I did not see the Windows 7 insignia all come together: just a black screen, and it's been like that for the past 15 minutes. What the fuck is wrong with it? I can't do anything on the keyboard, can't restart, nothing. Whenever I try to restart, it does the same thing as above.
is there a blinking cursor in the upper left corner? Do you have a USB flash drive connected to your PC, if so remove it. Check the boot order in the bios to make sure it's booting to the hard drive.

Then your on board sat a controller or drive is about to go. Better backup your data ASAP.
I dealt with a pc today with a bad sata controller. If your dvd drive has a sata connection too check to see if your mobo sees the optical drive also. If it doesn't then def your sata controller. But it might be your drive about to go

Is there a way to mirror everything from one drive to another, so that if my primary hard drive fails, my backup already has everything on it, including the operating system?
It sees both the optical SATA drive and the hard drive, but I don't know how long that will last. We shall see.

Download Hiren's 10.5 since it's got Norton Ghost on there. Extract this .rar file then burn the disc image to a CD and boot from it. Then run norton ghost after you have all the drives connected and clone from the original to the new.

Clone the drive! Norton Ghost is popular. If you got an extra drive that has enough space to hold your data then plug it in no matter if it's over USB, IDE or SATA.

I have a brand new SATA hard drive that is the same make and capacity as the new hard drive I have, so I want to clone that. Problem is I need an SATA cable.

Everything seems to be in working order. As soon as I get the SATA cable, I will try to ghosting feature.
So let me get this straight: if the primary hard drive fails for whatever reason, the backup hard drive will take over as if nothing had happened?

If you ghost the drive to the backup drive and the original failed. you could plug in the backup and it should work just like the original did from the moment you did the ghost.
