Excel help needed

HI guys
I need help trying to write a formula that if fed a date will return what the first day of the week(if the first day was monday) was. example
input: 12/15/2006 or 12/12/2006
should return
week of December 11 2006

I would think that a way of doing it would be to do an if then formula that returns a result from hidden cells that list all the weeks in a year in a monday through sunday format. Something like if value is within this range then return value monday...
