Do those things come with a DVD drive? I don't know whether that is standard issue these days, where they don't have to mention it.

This isn't a one and a lifetime opportunity. Techbargains.com always has a Dell deal listed just like this daily. More times than not, it'll be $399 with NO rebates.

Good deal yes... But it's really more common than people think.

Yes, the deals are usually 399, but the actual PC you get changes all the time.
They usually get faster, more RAM, bigger HD & such.

sure, but for the 2600, with limited expansion,no AGP slot., and 128 MB Ram

This one is a unique deal in this year. The last one i was was a 13 months ago for this same price, which I took advantage. Havent seen a deal like this until now.

Rebate form here http://www.dell.com/downloads/us/bsd...ebate_form.pdf

Still a deal for the 4600 alone

possibly; but with the hight reliability Dell Desktops have, it might be better to avoid the hassle of building one.

Game over -- they took out the computer for good.

A friend of mine discussed that with her Dell representative, they said that it was a mistake, but they will still honor her the 5 computers she bought (with the LCD deal).

I wish they would run deals like this on the High-End systems.
I got my eye on a 3.2 GHz XPS system, but it is 1700 bucks configured the way I want even with the Employee discount my company offers.

Unluckily, new and hot items are never deep discounted. But this one is pretty decent for what you get.
You can always upgrade memory. Unless you really need power, P4 2.8 should be fine.

Now, i bet there is a smal difference in performance between 2.8 and 3.2 Ghz.

Yea I do.
I tried that when I bought my laptop.
They don’t let you combine discounts when they’re offering stuff like free shipping or free printer.
I’ll give it another try though. Thanks for the reminder.

I remember getting a 4600 through Dell's small business division for a pretty good price. I just had to act like I was a small business, but Dell didn't give two shits.
