considering buying a laptop from ebay

im in the market for a laptop, and just out of curiosity i went and looked at some on ebay and yahoo auctions. i found some prices for laptops that are too good to be true. has anyone here went ahead and bought a computer from ebay or yahoo auctions? i could really use some feedback on this one

I buy quite alot from Ebay and here are a few pointers...

Make sure that you know the retail price of what you are buying.

Make sure the seller has a decent amount and good feedback. Also check items from feedback to make sure that items sold are pricey items. If the seller has been selling $5-10 items and suddenly is selling an item for $800, I will not buy.

I like sellers that take Paypal, so it goes on my account with credit card. I do not like sending Money Orders.

I also do not like sellers that inflate shipping & handling.

Good luck!!

check out www.techbargains.com for laptop deals, they had a few on there this week... also if you do buy from ebay, i agree with what eggplant said, always check their ratings and what they've sold recently...

doesnt look bad, but that one should go for 2K+ its a pretty new laptop in terms of processor, and it has all the extras on there too. also when did you email him, i usually give a day or 2 before i move on, since its the weekend, he might be busy. i didnt like the warranty part, no onsite sucks.

Warranty:
standard warranty: 3 years
onsite support? no :thumbsdn:
comments: three year return to compaq warranty with 24x7 phone support

i emailed him around 1 or so. i figure it will take him a day or 2. he is selling 3 other laptops at the same time. so i figure its pretty legit. im not too worried about the onsite warrenty. it does have 3 year limited
