Computer Price Check?

I have a computer I am planning on trying to sell. I want to know a ballpark price of how much I can get for it. As soon as I get some pictures ill post in the for sale forum.

1.7 GHZ P4
1024MB RAM
80gb HD
GeForce 4 MX 440
MSI (Micro Star) MS-6566E (845E Max) Motherboard
Atapi 2x16x4x16 DVD/CD-RW +-R
Other DVD-Rom Drive – Installed, Unplugged
Floppy Drive
3Com Ethernet 10/100 PCI Card
Creative SB Live! Sound Card

You can see a picture of it and its case here. Just the computer would be for sale, no monitor. I could probably throw in a keyboard/mouse if needed

Here is the problem with gaming PCs. You have to spend a lot of money on a new one so that you have the right CPU/Video board/mem etc. etc.

In a year or two that stuff is outdated and you either need to upgrade your machine or buy a new one if you want to keep playing the most current games.

So you decide to sell it. Who can buy it? Not someone that wants to play the latest games. So its going to be someone that needs web/email/word processing.

Well, a new computer that can do that is under $500 and comes with a warranty. So your used PC is going to need to be pretty cheap.

would it be ok if i just replaced the motherboard and cpu? i mean, i dont need a bigger HD, and the amount of memory is fine. maybe change the video card. but does it matter that the rest of the stuff is a couple years old, or should it hold up just fine?

it will all work together fine

a year ago before the whole pci express junk came out i bought everything new, but i kept my old processor and just overclocked the shit out of it...when it goes, i wont feel bad about buying a new one. the only thing that really gets outdated and has the most impact on performance is the video card. get a good one and keep it for a year, then when it starts slowing up your games, overclock it to hell for the next year and then buy a new card.
