Computer Monitors: regular LCD vs. cinema screen/widescreen. Benefits?
Some people are opting to get a cinema screen/widescreen LCD as their next monitor, while others still prefer the regular dimension LCDs. What would you get and what are the advantages and disadvantages for each? I can see how a widescreen would be beneficial as a tv, but what about for a computer monitor?

Widescreen definitely. The newer video drivers support it, along with games. I think in a couple of years most everyone will have widescreen, everywhere.
Widescreen monitors that rotate are useful for forum browsing and other tasks involving scrolling (Word, Excel etc)... check the pictures in this thread:

Speaking of which, the Dell 2405FPW would be the monitor to get now, if you can swing the $800-900 it's going for, which is not bad at all. If not that, get the Dell 2005FPW.
I would get the 2405 if I was shopping for a monitor now....... and I have been thinking but I can't think of any disadvantages of getting that monitor.... I guess one possibly is, its native resolution (which you should run it at) - is 1920x1200 (HD resolution) - which can be very small if you don't adjust the settings (look at the screens in the link above)... Also apps such as Winamp will appear quite small - again not necessarily a bad thing. You can adjust the size of the rest of the Windows fonts and menu bars so I don't see it being a big issue.
