Now that I spent some time with my new NEC MultiSync LCD monitor, I can see what the difference is between an LCD and a CRT. The picture quality is very good on the NEC MultiSync LCD monitor, but I did notice some jitter when scrolling a document up and down, that never happened with my old CRT. I think its because it’s an analog monitor and the conversion causes the jitter. I also played Counter-Strike last night for the first time on an LCD monitor, while it did a good job with the game, I don’t think it’s up to par with a CRT for faster action games.
Don’t get me wrong I love this monitor but I wouldn’t say that it’s flawless. Yes LCD monitors are nice. They save space, use less energy, and are much easier on users' eyes than traditional CRTs, they also throw off much less heat than CRTs. But If I was serious gamer I would probably want to stick with a CRT.
