Computer Monitor ?
Computer Monitor ?
I currently have my original 15 inch monitor for 7 years ago and have recently been looking for a bigger one, mainly for online gaming. Just got an email with a special from newegg for a Hanns·G HW-191DPB Black 19" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 700:1 Built in Speakers monitor.
Here is the link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824254005
$139.99 - $40 off & free shipping. Think this is a good deal? I have never heard of this monitor...
Also, it looks like it comes with an audio cable since it has built in speakers, but I prefer my separate speakers; I don't HAVE to use the built in speakers, right?

Hanns·G HW-191DPB 19"
- Resolution : 1400 x 900
- Brightness : 300 cd/m²
- Contrast Ratio : 700:1
- DVI and VGA inputs

This is what I have but an earlyer better looking model instead of that Touch-of-Color crap.
You could hook it up to cable too. It's basicly a TV but with and AMAZING resolution and moniter price.
BTW, I know you want to get that moniter because it's so cheap but there is a reason why. Just because the specs are kindof simular to the upscale Samsung doesn't mean it's going to be as clear, as good of color, etc. Most budget TVs and moniters suffer in moving picture which will totaly mess up your gaming experence.

check to see if your geforce supports 1920x1200 resolution. if it does then u can use either of those dell monitors but you won't be able to really game on them at all. then again, with a geforce 3 card you probably might not be able to game on any of the newer games.
if u get a 23 or 24" monitor they are huge and the picture is awesome, even if you are just using it to surf the web and write papers and stuff.

when i was shopping around this is what i looked for
1.ms response time
2.contrast ratio
3.resolution
ranked in order of most important to least. i ended up buying a samsung 906bw w/2ms response time,2000:1 contrast and 1440x900 ratio and i love it.

Honestly, to go from a 15 to a 19 widescreen you won't be gaining all that much. I'd go with a 22 or larger if you're looking for an upgrade. That said, there's some great deals out there if you look around. I've got an HP w2207 that's fantastic. Its only 1680x1050, but at that size you won't see a difference between that and full 1080p or 1920x1200 anyway.
As for the built in speakers, you don't have to use them. I never use the ones in my HP monitor. I tried them once just to see how they were, but they were the worst things I'd ever heard. Seriously, if I took my headphone and layed them down on my desk they sounded better than the built in speakers. I'd just stay with the externals.

LG W53 SMART Monitor Series include an incredible Auto Brightness feature that allows them to automatically optimize their brightness and other picture settings based on the ambient light in the room and the content being viewed.
I'm thinking about getting a 27" monitor to better work on photo and video editing.
HP 2709m 27" monitor on sale at http://www.shopping.hp.com/store/pro...e1/landing_PDP
for $330 right now. Is this a good monitor? If not, any other 27" monitors you guys would recommend?

F-C, have you gone through the monitor thread over in the camera forum? It's a pretty old thread but the last few pages are probably still relevant.
