Cingular Phone recommendations?

The wife has the Moto V220, I think it's the biggest piece of shit ever...The camera sucks ass too. What's a good upgrade from that phone without getting too expensive to upgrade?

How about some of the new nokias? The have awesome reception and as always, one of the best build qualities.

Do they still carry the V600? That's a good phone too

The only Nokia I see worthwhile is the 6102...

A couple of things I want:
A decent camera
Speaker phone (would be nice)
Must be a flip phone
Cheap to upgrade, if not free..

The ones I see that I can get that aren't too expensive are:

Sony Ericsson Z500a
LG C2000
Nokia 6102
Samsung E317
Motorola V551

I heard the LG C2000 is pretty good. The RAZR is pretty hot, but I returned mine due to the weak vibration and average speakerphone.

If you can wait, I would suggest waiting until after X-mas for the new models to come out.

are any samsung's good?

i have several friends who have samsung and love them, and after switching from sanyo (when i had sprint) i hate motorola products with a passion...

i like other samsung/sanyo but i dont think sanyo makes anything that will work on cingular

I have the v551, no complaints. Good reception and I use bluetooth to download ringtones from my computer.

ok so i ended up ditching the lg's after reading a few more reviews, and decided not to chance it on newerish phones...

after reading as much as i could i decided to go nokia, and i specifically wanted a flip phone (personal preference) so i picked up the nokia 6170 off of ebay for 220 shipped....

more than i wanted to pay...

so, technically cingular doesn't support it, but it only took me about two hours this morning to figure out how to do it, and now knowing what to do it would take about 5 minutes to setup another one (for my girlfriend who will be throwing her v551 down the stairs, out the window, and then backing over several times, and then flushing it down the toilet)

or i might sell them on egay

i can't believe i have lived with a crappy phone for 6 months, the nokia reception is a world of difference, i have yet to be cut off, and all voices are crystal clear, the wireless internet is just as fast with edge, and i got the multimedia text messages working along with regular

the phone is almost exactly the same size as my v551 but without an external antenna poking you in the leg the whole time

i never realized why nokia had such a great reputation, i have only had this phone a couple days and i am a believer....

few small gripes that i am not used to, but apparently normal for nokia, (font colors, changing the ring done through menu) just not accoustemed to the way the menu layout is, i am sure that will change rapidly

ill try to update again in a week

Sony Ericsson Z520 and Sony Ericsson W600....the Z520 should be released any day now..its a flip...definitely smaller than the Z500...When the W600 comes out, I'm going to get it, then use the Z520 as my business line.

After 6 months with the V180 I'd recommend you NOT get it. Its horrible in pulling in a so-so signal and the battery life has deteriorated from recharging every 10 days to recharging every other day. We're looking to replace it with a Nokia (whether we stay with Cingular or move on to another carrier).

I have a feeling the next 2 Sony Ericsson phones coming out for Cingular (the ones I mentioned above: Z520a & W600) will be received very well from the public. Nokia phones always do well too.
