That wasn't my experience with them. Is there some kind of fine print like "when standing on your roof with a parabolic antenna aimed at the cell site"?

Does anyone know how they determined this?

I have never had a dropped call with Cingular. Maybe it's because Wisconsin is so damn flat the coverage is really good. (Also I love my new Cingular Razor!)

I saw on the news that Cingular has a GSM backbone & that makes it better.

Cingular is the only service that works at my grandma's house. I tried all others & no service.

Every provider with the exception of Verizon has a GSM backbone (GSM can only handle voice, not data).

I was with ATTWS for years and never had dropped calls...since Cingular bought out ATTWS, that has not changed.

I have cingular and I swear I drop at least 5 calls a day... its lame, although I think its because I have the Razr and it seems to pick up less signal, lets say 3 bars, when friends with different cing phones will pick up 5.

so you can't compare signal strength meters across different phones. just like you can't compare gas gauges across different cars...sorta.

the whole bars things is marketing, not scientific.

Haha I say the same thing when I see the commercials because I had Cingular and got dropped a lot. Yeah it was good if I was standing outside in a good signal area, but walk indoors or get 5 miles from the freeway and forget it.

I've never had a problem with ATTWS or Cingular. It's actually rare to find a place that doesn't have service. It obviously depends on where you live.

How many customers does Cingular have? It would be a valid statement if they had 1 million customers and half of them had dropped calls so it would be 500k dropped calls.

Now if AT&T has 100 million people and has 20M dropped calls they would have a much better % of dropped calls but a much higher number.

I think I just confused myself

thank god, i finally got out of my cingular service contract, i had to pay $100 to get out and it was the best $100 I ever spent...

after going through multiple phones, and calling customer service several times a month for over a year, someone finally admitted that they had very poor service in my area (which apparently consists of northern virginia)

I honestly dropped about 80% of my calls

I knew it got bad when I couldn't even get past the wait time to talk to someone without my call dropping... fuckers, they did have better phones and cheaper plans, but i guess it was for a reason

now with verizon and i will never ever look back, cdma for me thanks

that being said, i had great service in ny and miami, too bad i am only there a couple weeks a year

the only thing i dont like about verizon or sprint is that you dont save your numbers on a sim card, so if your phone gets fucked and you cant turn it on or get ahold of your numbers then you lost them all

My brother just came out to AZ...he has Cingular. He can't even use his phone, he has to borrow mine (Sprint) to make calls.
