LG can use that excuse to get out of honoring the warranty. It's a fairly standard practice.

LG "Life's Good" LG uses Ebay to NOT Warranty expensive TVs Nationwide

I purchased LG's top of the line OLED 55" TV on Ebay. After only a month of use, the TV just stopped working. I was changing channels and poof the screen went blank and died.

I purchased the TV on Ebay May 17, 2014. The back of the TV says the TV was manufactered January 2014. It stopped workiong June 24, 2014. When I called to get warranty work done on the set, LG told me they did not warranty an product that was NOT purchased from an authorized dealer. I explained to them that the TV was stamped with the manufactering date and I was well within the 1 yr warranty period. LG stated they did not care and if I had read their warranty papers (over 20 pages of fine print) that I would have discovered LG doesn't warranty any product not purchased through a licensed authorized dealer.
So buyer beware.

Yeah I've been fucked over by that. I got a Pioneer Elite AV receiver from Amazon and it died within a week. I called Pioneer and they said sucks for you because you bought it on Amazon

No it's not, you have to prove some how you're affiliated to the industry.

Back in the day my friends dad added me as an employee of his car stereo installation company.

Had to generate some business cards that I had to handover when I picked up my badge.

That's how I was able to go.

I've read it's been honored countless times on Slickdeals but I went ahead and bought an extended warranty anyways.

Been underwhelmed overall by what I have seen so far from CES. Hoping the best is yet to come still.

Same thing with me. I shipped a unit to a repair center, they said they wouldn't repair it under warranty because of where I bought it. Then they made me pay them to ship it back to me. Was not a satisfied customer.

Yeah but even the look to the future stuff hasn't really wowed me honestly.

I mean the new LG 8k TV is nice and by the time my plasma dies that is probably where we will be out but that is like 6-8years out I hope.

Oh yeah how about autonomous fruit delivery bitches.

https://www.engadget.com/2018/01/09/...liver-produce/

Quote:
EngadgetShopping for fresh produce online has always been a bit of a gamble since you're not actually selecting the fruits and veggies yourself. Santa Clara, California-based startup Robomarts aims to change that by bringing online produce shopping to your front door.

The company, as part of NVIDIA's deep learning/AI "Inception Program", has developed what is essentially an self-driving bodega on wheels. The concept relies on a Sprinter Van-sized delivery vehicle outfitted with an array of LiDAR, radar, and cameras, as well as a CAN motion control system and enough route planning and obstacle avoidance software to notch Level 5 autonomy -- that's the highest level a self-driving vehicle can achieve, requiring no human driver whatsoever. What's more, the vehicles use a fully electric drivetrain with an estimated 80-mile range, 25 mph top speed and come equipped with the HEVO wireless charging system.

The cargo area of the vehicle will be refrigerated and offer multiple shelves of various types of produce (at least for the initial pilot program). To use the service, shoppers will order the vehicle much like a ride sharing service. Once it arrives, the shopper unlocks and opens the door, then makes their selection. A proprietary "grab and go" checkout system tracks which products are removed from the vehicle, then automatically bills the shopper's account and generates an online receipt.

The company is currently awaiting its Autonomous Vehicle Testing Permit from the California DMV but expects to have it soon and plans to launch a pilot program in the Bay Area this summer.
