That new Sony Vaio P is a sexy little netbook. 8in screen with a 1600X736 resolution!!!
Also they got a new touchscreen mp3 player with built in noise cancellation. and new TVs have a builtin motion sensor so if there's no motoin in the room after x amount of time then it turns off the TV.
New Dell XPS 1340 and 1640, they're purty too.
Seeing some Android powered netbooks, UMPC's.
The OQO 2 is bad ass

damnit. I wish technology could slow down so I can get caught up on what all of this shit is. Then I want something, and realize that the technology isn't that great, or probably that I just end up buying shitty products... damnit.

New alpine head unit looks sick

Pioneer couldn't exactly waltz into CES without a single thing for the auto lovers in attendance, so in order to keep the peace with everyone, it's introducing a gaggle of new 12V items suited for installation in your brand new car! From the top, we've got the AVH-P3100DVD and the AVH-P4100DVD head units, both of which include iPod Passenger Mode for shotgun rider control, an all new user interface, DivX support, a USB port and a 5.8- / 7-inch display, respectively. Moving on, we've got a number of new single CD players, with the loaded DEH-P7100BT and Premier DEH-P710BT making the most noise. Both of these tout Bluetooth 2.0, dual USB sockets, iTunes tagging and voice control. For the in-car audio fanatics, Pioneer's also showing off a few new amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers, though we'll just direct you past the break for details on all of that.

I am kind of bummed that I do not work for them anymore. I used to attend every show. As busy as I got, it was my favorite time of the year. I worked on the association side of things.
I worked for the company that put the show on. When you walk through the halls and see the "You are Here" boards. I did those. I drew each and every one of them.

Las Vegas tech show shrinks
The annual Consumer Electronics Show will likely feel the economic recession, with fewer manufacturers, retailers and people turning up to check out the newest gadgets.
http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/05/tech...ion=2009010512
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) -- Even amid the flash and sizzle of the world's premier showcase for consumer electronics, the reality of the economic recession will be hard to ignore.
With shoppers in a funk and companies scaling back, the annual Consumer Electronics Show extravaganza in Las Vegas this week is likely to be subdued, with fewer manufacturers, retailers and people expected in attendance.
The focus is likely to be on smaller, more connected and greener devices that can help consumers save on bills. That is a change from years past, when companies trafficked in excess, offering items such as massive 150-inch TVs that were beyond the financial reach of most consumers.
"In tough times, the emphasis maybe shifts from cool and neat to how do you make things work better," said NPD analyst Stephen Baker.
The Consumer Electronics Association, which hosts CES, estimates that 130,000 people will attend, down from 141,000 last year. Hotel rooms in Las Vegas, usually scarce at this time of the year, can still be found.
The show's 2,700 exhibitors will be spread over 1.7 million square feet, a smaller footprint than last year's 3,000 exhibitors.
The tone will be different as well, with many tech companies focused on sealing sales rather than just making showy exhibits on the convention floor.

Holy shit that new palm is balla!!! Damn now it makes sense that elevation partners (which Bono from U2 is a member of) has been dumping so much money into Palms restoration lately. This thing looks really good, it seems to take all the best aspects of all smartphones and put them into one.

LG's new Watch Phone
LAS VEGAS — James Bond and Dick Tracy fans are likely to queue up for this soon. The new watch phone from LG is one of the coolest gadgets at the CES 2009 show.
At a press event today, LG USA President Michael Ahn showed a working demo of the device. It's a surprisingly slim watch that has a touchscreen phone, 3G and Bluetooth capabilities. It also has a camera that can take photos and small videos.
Worn on the wrist, the phone looks like any ordinary watch displaying the time but when a call comes in, the screen changes. Just raise your hand a little closer to your mouth, press a button and you can talk into the watch through the speakerphone capability.
The watch phone is expected to go into production mid-year though the company did not offer any details on pricing.

I'll probably get the DEH-P710BT to replace my DEH-P600UB (why I didn't get the BT? No idea...)
I really like the idea of dual USB sockets.... that way I can charge something else while playing music from my iPhone. Not to mention these new headunits look really slick!

I am guessing (based on their track record) the Palm will wow people for exactly one month before it starts to do what all Palm phones do. Crumble. Externally, internally, OS, etc... No device had made me more frustrated than any of the Palm phones I had. Good idea, terrible implementation and durability and longevity. You thought your Windows95 operating system slowed down to a crawl over time? Use a Treo. Atmospheric pressure changes caused the thing to lock up. Changes in ambient light levels caused it to lock up. Overcooking the roast caused it to lock up. I could go on....

well i kind of expected it because they changed the way the memory worked.
instead of losing all your data when the power runs out, they changed it so that you dont lose anything.
and at the time alot of programs were written for the old way.
whatever.

Victorinox Presentation Pro floated by the Swiss army
Victorinox -- makers of the original Swiss Army knife -- made its first trek to CES with this, its new Presentation Pro. Tucked away with insane precision are a removable 32GB USB drive with fingerprint authentication, laser pointer, and Bluetooth remote control for your Windows-only PC or laptop presentations. Yep, key ring and scissors too. It even features a blade to fight off your enemies and a file to scrape away any fingerprints after the deed is done. We went hands on with the device and were truly impressed with the build quality. Here's the rub: it'll cost you $330 when it ships in May. Did we say it had a laser?
