Cell phone VM indicator won't go away

I've cycled the power and even left it off for an hour but it keeps telling me I have three new voice mails. WTF? It's never taken more than a few minutes for the indicator to go away after I clear my messages. Is there any way I can smack some sense into it? v710 on Verizon

try leaving yourself a voicemail then deleting it. if that doesnt work call customer service have them delete and add the voicemail again, then just re set it up.
